Oof. I wonder if the data are intact.
I wonder how a supposed infrastructure upgrade cannot be rolled back within 6 days, oh how I wonder if it really wasn't a ransomware attack or other breach.

Many companies do still manage to host their own stacks.

BUT, it is becoming increasingly difficult to do, with the offerings from the providers all moving towards SaaS and PaaS type solutions.

In all honesty a 6 day outage on your headline product is totally unacceptable really, and it will probably mean a portion of their user base will move back to an onprem hosted Sage, or migrate to an entirely different product.

Many companies opt to move it into a hosted (or cloud) environment in any case which is better than their online solution in any case.

Yeah, but even if you do that.. when you do fundamental one way upgrades, you spin up a completely new setup of infrastructure, either as a duplicate of the "old"... or as a place to do the actual upgrade on and the original infrastructure is kept as a rollback plan.

I have it on good authority that someone updated gay midget porn to the wrong hosting server causing the bitcoin mining systems running in the background to sprang a leak...

I'm glad that I moved my company from Sage One in 2017, it is a terrible accounting package, especially when it comes to stock management and reporting. QuickBooks online, Zoho Books or Xero are all 100 times better in my opinion.

Basic practice that you *NEVER* do a one way upgrade without a fallback plan, I guess the non-compliance with ISAE3402 standards is biting them in the butt.

Class action to follow? I know this is RSA but...

Doesn't seem that Sage is going to refund for any loss due to their ****up. However if I were a client I would push hard for this.
