I am really looking forward to getting SAINET's 384k Uncapped @ R499 (Includes ADSL line rental) when it becomes available on 1 April. Before I do I first want to find out how others have experienced their other ADSL offerings and gerneral service.

Please comment on:
Stability: Do you get full advertised speed all the time?
Reliability: Does it work all the time?
Customer support: Do they answer the phone and help you when you call?

I am especially interested in current 4Mbps unlimited subscribers

Been with SAINET for 2.5 years, with nothing to complain about. Their pricing was great back when we joined, the service has been up almost 100% of the time and the speeds were within expectations. We get about 330kbs on a 384k line. Their helpdesk is not available after hours, but I've only had an issue once after hours. So we've had no reason to change.

You are absolutely right, my mistake. The "sign up" link on the site did not work and I read it wrong.

Thank you very much. This is what I needed to know. I called them today and the sales person assured me that it will continue to be the exact same service as their current capped DSL just uncapped. She also said that the billing cycle starts on the 1st so I'll be signing up for March. Bye bye Afrihost.

I think I'll wait just a bit longer to see what feedback some of the myBB members give and then make a decision based on that.

Any other feedback for these guys?

Im finding it hard to decide to go with R449 for aprox 90gig in a month, or splash out for the R899 and get upto 800gigs if I push my 4meg line.....

Just because it works out cheaper per gig, does not mean you can afford it...

Yeah, has anybody bitten the bullet with Sainet? I'm seriously considering their offer, as they've been around for some time with little complaints from the community but yeah it would be nice to know about the uncapped offering.

I was with Sainet before Afrihost. Had no problems at all. I will also go back to them in April for the uncapped service.

Not to bash on SAINET, they are obviously still testing and working on their new network but here are a few traceroutes I did out of interest sake. Looking at them I see now how they can do the split accounting for local/international, by making use of a product from Neology or whatever but I do remember reading about neology planning to do split account a few months ago on their website.

From Europe to Sainet's website:
Code:
be ~ # traceroute www.sainet.co.za
traceroute to www.sainet.co.za (41.216.192.115), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets

Seems their international link gets a bit saturated during the day reaching latencies of a 1000ms.

Local latencies on their network looks excellent and seems they are based somewhere in JHB/PTA probably JHB and making use of SAIX for local transit and they have their own layer2 transit over SEACOM I assume because later after hours the latencies to their website from Europe is around 233ms which looks like its SEACOM as opposed to SAT3 which should be around 170-190ms.

ok so, i'm currently on screamer uncapped. No laughing please. I have a few questions similar to other users? How is their speed? Service? Reliability? Work pays for my line so all i really need is an isp for data and of course browsing?

Hi there. I use a lot of Skype to internations toll free numbers. Anyone able to comment on VOIP using SAINET's shaped accounts? I currently have a little 384 line with Cybersmart (unshaped) and works well.

Oh no, for the first time today when I called Sainet no one picked up the phone and I had to call back a few times. When someone finally answered she said it had been incredibly busy. I asked if they plan to hire more employees to handle the increased business they are about to receive and the lady tried to assure me they will employ more when they need more but that right now everything is going fine.

Great news! The employees have Skype accounts!!! So I am receiving great customer service via Skype Chat or if I want to call it's free! My medical insurance company have been doing this and I LOVE IT!!! TAKE THAT TELKOM! The lady helping me also said that Skype is never throttled and always take priority. Her name is Michelle von Abo, you can ask to speak to her when you call, she has been very helpful in processing my application and answering all my questions.
