The fact that a single International link failure can cause these kinds of problems is not acceptable. There should be decent redundancy on all the links.

Another thing i hate about SAIX/Telkom split with ADSL. If your line is faulty, u report, they fix and u get a back a cut in rental if the line was truely broken etc.. saix, is, etc can cut off their international due to problems and u still pay for the total gb.........

GAH!

PLEASE fix that byline!

Should be : "A USA link..." (Goes by SOUND, not letter!)

Antowan: It is good; I wish more (supposedly) ZA sites were locally hosted --- nothing annoys me more than when .za sites bug out while trying to load google/adsense ads.
May I recommend you adblock all such ads? :D

Steady now - this redundancy concept is still new to Telkom.
I think you're mistaken. Just about everything about Telkom seems redundant if you ask me. :p

Just remember, the internet might not exist the way it is without those ads

We're also badly affected by this, but SAIX just mentioned they've rerouted some of the traffic, so hopefully it's a bit better now. No estimate on repair yet.

I have to thank google for buying out tons of ad companies and using a single url with which they load the ads from...

...Makes it so much easier to block them all with a few lines added to the hosts file. :D

I was about to ask.... what is/are the relevant url(s)?

I'm aware of this, and am mostly quite happy to load ads, but the situation of being capped to local only bandwidth is something that I'm not *ever* going to be happy about --- when I'm on IS local only I'm going to feel very little for those blocked advertisers.

Then we shouldn't blame those ads, but actually just telkom like allways with their riddiculus pricing and bandwidth allocation:mad:

An Ashburn (USA) SAIX link failed on the 14th of August at 14:00 hours

Whatever bug caused the the problem certainly had precise timing - down at exactly 2pm

My international (SAIX yes!) is hunky dory. Been fine the whole day (from 8PM). Whats all the fuss about? :p
