I purchased a Sako 3kw 24v Inverter about a month ago, to give it a test and see how it performs compared to my Prostar 3kw 48v UPS system.

I hooked up 2 x 200ah batteries since this Sako has a built-in 30A charger which is ideal for 150ah and 200ah batteries.

I had a few power failures and a few load shedding experiences, and the system provided backup power quite well.

The other day I had a power failure from 8pm until 11am, and the batteries lasted 13 hours out of the 15.

Backed up appliances are :
1. 100 x 7w LED lights
2. Laptop
3. two 46" LED TV's
4. two DSTV decoders
5. Fridge
6. Freezer
7. Alarm system

Of course I only use the lights when needed ( although about 200w are on a day night switch so I don't touch those) , and I turn the Fridge and Freezer to a less powerful setting so that the motor doesn't run often. The TV's are on all the time until midnight. The very first time I put down my mains intentionally to see how it operates, my TV's switched off and decoders reset, but when the council cuts power they don't seem to switch off. I almost pulled the inverter out and put the UPS back but my electrician didn't come so it worked out well.

The inverter LCD displays the Input Voltage , Output Voltage, Frequency , Load % and Battery Voltage.

Heres two some small video clips for a quick demo ...

Where did you buy it from @6k?

Not a bad price, considering they run about 2k RMB each back in .cn land.
I'm tossing up bringing some over on my next sojourn from work, or buying locally.

I have 2 of those calcium batteries that you have at the bottom.
Have you used them and how do they perform.

when I bought the Prostar UPS, the supplier wanted like around R2k for a battery. Told him I can get batteries for R1300 and that's what I did. Little did I know I was being offered proper lead acid gel batteries and not not lead calcium which started dying on me 8 months into my usage.

So to answer your question, they are not the proper batteries for backup solutions.

@Isheed, bought the goodies from Prostar ( sales@prostar.co.za ). I've purchased 5 complete systems already for my family members and they all work well.
