Exclusive: Galaxy S8 is not going to feature a 3.5mm headphone jack

If you were cross with Samsung for ditching removable batteries with the Galaxy S6 then you might not like what it’s going to do with the Galaxy S8. We can exclusively confirm that Samsung is going to remove the standard 3.5mm headphone jack from the Galaxy S8.

This means that all of your existing headphones will not be compatible with the upcoming flagship unless you use a USB Type-C adapter as the Galaxy S8 will feature a USB Type-C port. This also means that you won’t be able to plug in the Galaxy S8 and use wired headphones at the same time.

First the battery saga and now this. I wonder how their flagships will do over the next two years.

I will wait and see the final product.

This move is as stupid as removing the MicroSD Slot, and we all know what happened with that in 2016.

Does anyone know if Eldar Murtazin or Evan Blass have confirmed this?

We had this discussion in the iPhone thread about the headphone jack of all future feature phones disappearing so this is hardly surprising.

Without a headphone Jack I can't plug my phone into my car for music.

Genius.

Couple of my friends have wireless PC headsets, they cost 2-3 times more than my wired ones but sound much worse and their mics are horrid.

Proof is in the pudding.

Then they have schit headsets. I've got two. A cheapie and an expensive one. I can't tell the difference between the two and normal wired earphones.

At the end of the day the customer should be able to choose whether they want to use Bluetooth or the jack and not force the one.

I don't think I've seen a smartphone without Bluetooth yet its hardly used (lets be honest) so why haven't they removed that?

So why did they remove the tape deck from car radios you think?

Still happy with my Sony Z3. Will keep using it for another year or two. Just as good or better than the latest phones.

My Land Cruiser has it built in. What crappy old car are you driving?

I just drive a normal car, I don't have to drive through rivers and over mountains to get to the shop, so, a Focus...
