If you've been a Samsung user for a long time, you'll remember that its software update release cycles left a lot to be desired. It felt like forever waiting for new iterations to arrive. The delays were particularly worse for users with carrier-locked devices in the United States. They'd often be waiting for months after unlocked devices got their updates from Samsung.

Android updates will never be fixed. Just empty promises after empty promises. Best to move on.

What exactly seems to be the problem?
Samsung and Android updates still suck. You buy a flagship $1300 S24 Ultra and will only get Android 15 in May after 9 months just in time for the Android 16 release.

It's not android. It's Samsung, or your carrier if it's a carrier specific branded device.

Pixels get an update every month.

My S22U got the security updates every month. As does my fiancee's S24+ and I am expecting the Feb security update on my S25 Ultra soon.

He's talking about OS upgrades. I'm not sure why that's such a sore point for him.

the way i look at it is ..... if it aint broke then why would you want to try and fix it

with my Poco F1 i was getting lots and lots of updates for a while - and as the settings changed and the phone started doing more things, then the battery life went tits up, and the phone only continued working decently well once i stopped receiving updates, So IMHO you should only seriously bother with one or two updates since a phone is designed with the android version that was current when they started on it - it soon becomes apparent that the hardware (ram, storage, CPU and GPU mainly) will eventually struggle if you continue going to newer and newer updates - and IMHO if you want the newer android versions you are better off buying a new phone

my feeling on this is going to be twofold with all this newfangled AI nonsense that they are adding to phones - because while it is nonsense now it will soon start offering more powerful and useful things that people will come to rely upon and most phones just wont be capable of handling the resources required for all the new software ..... so all these promises of 6 or 7 years of updates guaranteed are just going to land up being a load of hot air ...... after a while with most phones its just going to be an updated launcher/interface that they will be giving you because your phone just wont be strong enough for most of the newer features that the latest software will offer
