We should be able to forecast when this will be the norm for new desktop harddrives and pricing is at ~R2k based on 30 years of financial history. So.... my guess is 3 years?

Those are SAS enterprise drives. I'll take the new 4TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD rather.

That's $1499 on Samsung.com. I'm not fussy. I'll take the 2TB 850 Pro for only $950.

Well could go up to 22 with this board :D

ASROCK Z87 Extreme11/ac

22 x SATA3 (16 x SAS3 12.0 Gb/s + 6 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s)

Hehe. Not really though...SATA drives aren't going to work on SAS ports (though I think SAS3 drives could work on the SATA3 ports).

So...you can buy 22 of the R140 000.00 drives for this board if you want :D
