Samsung’s recently announced Windows Phone 8 device, the Ativ S, has been confirmed for South Africa

It is ok, I will still be purchasing a Nokia Lumia 920.

Wow another Smartphone for consideration....the manufacturers are churning them out like crazy.

I would have liked to play with the Lumia 920 before deciding on an upgrade but I need to ditch this POS BB 9780 in a hurry so I can't wait another 2 or 3 months (or more) for it to finally land here. Next month it's the S3 for me.

Frankly speaking this is really a null and void point. Assuming that you mean it (the Ativ S) being lighter makes it better.

I mean 50g difference.

I am using a pen that is heavier than the damn good Lumia 920.

Nice comparison. Two really good phones. The Samsung not having lte would probably kill it for me considering I only get a new phone every 2 years and I'm sure lte will be pretty standard in about 6 months or so

These specs must be wrong. Why would they both be using Bluetooth v3 ? I'll wait for the official release before deciding which is better. If the ativ is anything like the S3, it is already a winner.

Me too, but I wouldn't look down on anyone getting an HTC 8X or Samsung Ativ S. All great phones, for different tastes. Really compelling Win8 line-up. The 8X is probably the best looking, and best all-rounder, Ativ S is a nice thin and light business phone, and the Lumia 920's all about the camera and screen.

Some of them out-spec the S3 in some areas, and the S3 out-specs them in some areas. None of the phones have top-spec in all categories. "better" depends on what you want in a phone.
