well depending on which model you go for, you can get anything from ordinary to really nice. i personally don't own a samsung. nokia is a really good and safe bet. it's the preferred option by most.
are you thinking of getting a samsung?
I'll never get a Samsung![]()
Samsung cellular phones:
1. Spare parts are between double and four times the price of a similar Nokia, Sony Ericsson or Motorola!
2. Slide Samsung's use a very basic flex cable to link the back of the phone to the front (even on the D900i) but the cables used by Nokia, SE and Motorola are of much better quality!
3. Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola all offer a facility to upgrade your handsets firmware (software) but Samsung do not!
4. Nokia PC Suite is good, SE the same, Motorola software is a bit unstable but when working its great... Samsung PS Suite is very tacky, not intuitive in its use and wants to go online every ten minutes to upgrade itself!!
5. They take good pictues, Nokia do as well but the Sony Ericsson range seem to do just that bit better!
Post Script to this: Nokia battery life is average but on a 3G handset I'd suggest switching to GSM mode unless you need to use 3G. Memory cards draw next to nothing but if you've got a memory card then it follows that you're probably playing MP3's which does drain the battery. I've never had a memory card failure in a Nokia handset... Motorola yes, but not Nokia or SE! Suggest inserting or removing memory cards only when the handset is off!

The G/f's D900i's screen cracked, it was in her pocket and when she pulled it out to make a call, nothing. I cant see any impact point like you normally do when you look at a cracked lcd screen. I have come to the conclusion that they use crap screens. I subject my phones to plenty of abuse and have never broken an lcd. replacement cost for the screen.. R1100 on a phone valued at R2200.
2 friends have U700's and both hate it.
Friend with a D500 went through 2 flex cables in a year.
Guy that works for me has a flip model, inside screen also cracked.(was closed in his pocket)
I had a small flip model (E700 or something) dropped calls, signal sucked, voice quality sucked and battery life sucked.
I won't recommend Samsung to any one
