Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy 10.1v GT-P7100 Tablet

Good day,

I just looked at the latest vodacom pamphlet http://cde.cerosmedia.com/1B4d89e59c0b1d6012.cde

On Page 29, A Samsung Galaxy 10.1" Honeycomb Tablet is going for R399/Month for 24 Months... Is this right? I am sure its only set to be released in June?

Thank you Corp...

Went to Vodacom World and put through my application as well....
Did they tell you when the device will be available, because the sales consultant at Voda told me a week or 2..

I suppose 16gb is sweet + 8mp camera. Not a big deal considering its flippen cheap :)

Last week one Vodacentre told me that they will have a demo unit by yesterday (have not gone to check yet) and yesterday a Vodashop said they hoping to have stock by the weekend or early next week latest. Whatever the timeframe may be in the end I hope it is sooner than later.

Application approved but they said that they will maybe have stock Wednesday next week. I'm so sad now :( This waiting is awful.

Look to me like the deal has disappeared too, Cellucity is offering the same R399 deal on the 10.1v but on a 36 month contract.

Does anybody know how much RAM this sucker has? Sources on the internet seem to be conflicting, some specify 512MB while others specify 1024MB. Also adding to the confusion is the availability of this as well as the other 10.1 version (the slimline one with the suckier cam).

EDIT: Just popped into a Vodashop 3G today and spoke to the manager, he specified the price is indeed R399.00 x24, he backed this up by showing me the new deal book. I trust him as he also a good friend of mine. (Unfortunately he cant inform me of the RAM amount as they are only getting stock within the next two weeks.)

I hope this is not becoming an iPhone saga in which people wait and wait and wait for stock that just never seems to arrive.

Apparently it is becoming an iPhone 4 saga. Walked into Vodacom Shop today to get an update on the ETA of the stock...it is on back order now until end April. FML

I use this on my Galaxy Tab.

It's pretty good but it looks like it downscales the pictures when editing.
I wanted to use it to quickly pull out the MicroSD card in my camera, pop it in the Tab and do some quick editing, but it looks like it scales the pictures down to about 1024*768 or something.

Maybe with an update it'll handle the larger images.

Is the P7100 better than Xoom? Maybe in some areas (camera) and loses out in others (SD card). Cannot say for sure yet as there is not one single review of the production ready p7100 yet. All reviews are based on the pre-release which mostly always changes things here and there albeit small negligible things. I really do hope we get something soon and my approved application has not yet delivered any device due the back orders I mentioned. I am not a patient man or more I don't like having to be one but what can I do?...not as if there is really anything else available.

Thanks Mith. Definately is one of the better reviews I have read but also based on a pre-release model. Look...I doubt there will be much difference when it actually comes out but I just want a final official release now so that we can have head to head reviews of it against everything else.
