Been asking samsung what's happening with our 3.1 update. They truly suck!

Here is their responce: Kindly note we will gladly assist you with your query. Please be advised that the Android 3.1 has not been launched as yet in South Africa and we do not have a specific date as we are still running a few tests as well as with the Network Providers to check if there willbe no conflicts with the networks but as soon as the release date is confirmed we will gladly advise all our customers.

If you would like any further information or assistance, please feel free to contact us on 0860-SAMSUNG (726-7864) or click on the contact us link at the bottom of this e-mail.

Now doesn't the 10.1 that newer thinner one have 3.1 standard and is it not available in SA yet?

the question is also whether or not the update will preserve user settings and info....i suppose its not a train smash to capture a few things again...but like my game levels etc, I dont want to start at level 1 of angry birds again...

OK so I'm also trying to root my device, much trickier than I thought. I don't have drivers on my PC for fastboot. I have entered the bootloader on the device. I've opened Odin and connected my device, but windows does not have drivers for fastboot. I have downoladed that java sdk environment, installed it. I have Google fastboot drivers but it just keeps comin up with things I do not really understand. Is there a simple way to get fastboot drivers installed?

Fastboot

There is a config file you have to edit in the android sdk to add settings for this tab to work, oce you done that you can do
Fastboot oem unlock
Fastboot boot nameof cwm boot file

I loaded the isi 0.4 rom from xda and it is superb everything works so well.

No Honeycomb OS updates, yet...still at v3.01 - it is just basically security updates (119MB). But at least we now know that our Android tablets will get updates.

I was about this close to desperation to visit one of three Samsung Tech/Workshops located in the Western Cape (Montague Gardens, Brackenfell and Century City) to inquire about updates and do Honeycomb 3.2 installation right there on the spot if they do it. From my phone calls to them earlier this month they, apparently, can do updates but are not officially allowed to do so. No reason given.

I was offered the same by someone working in a Vodacom shop. Said he can do 3.1 but cannot guarantee warranty etc...

hate to do a thread necro, but has anybody had screen troubles with their tabs? The screen on mine has started flashing, with lines appearing across it as if the resolution on it is not correct. Does anybody know how long the guarantee on them is?

It should still be under warranty, just take it back to the store and they will scan the serial for you.

I am sure after three years they might have come right. If not they've upgraded as well
