So

Unfortunately I did not have a device to capture photos of the incident. My charger port decided it wanted the cable to be inside it permanently. Burnt out the lower area of the screen, bezel and back cover.

Surprisingly the device still functioned except the touch buttons on the bottom of the screen.

Would no longer charge though.

Samsung quickly whisked the phone away from me, yet to receive even an reference number for the claim etc.
(This is my wife's phone on my name)

My own A5 also becomes extremely hot when charging coupled to constant call drops and data issues. I have also booked this one it with CellC though to send of for repairs and a promise it will not start a fire.

Lets see what happens. I will keep the thread updated as I receive feedback.

PS. The firestarter is a SM-A500FU (XFV) purchased in September last year. Be on the lookout for more.

I hope they replace it instead of repairing.
Repaired devices always seems to be problematic down the line

Well they eventually supplied me a repaired phone with no charger.

Entire phone was replaced except the main board they say.

Argued until yesterday (3 weeks) before I received the correct charger.

Phone is all good. Like new.

On an alternate note,

I also sent my A5 back to CellC.

It was overheating in charge, better safe than sorry right?

From here it went from bad to worse.

They lost my phone. Found it. Restored it back to KitKat or whatever.

Sent it back with no charger... and a damaged bezel due to them teying to open the cover from the back( which is not removeable. Have to remove display panel to access the inside )

Refused to send it in again as the last time it was 2 weeks with a ****ty loan phone.

They insisted I did not send the charger back, although a business sales consultant took it from me and confirmed the fact.

After a few hours of arguements a nice lady contacted me and asked if they could send me an A7 as they did not have any A5 in stock.

Brand new A7 delivered the next day.

SO that's what happened to my Note II a couple of weeks ago? Jirre, I though my charger cable somehow got to close to the gas stove one day or something.

Now I'm charging with another Samsung charger that came with my wife's POS Samsung J1. Amazed my phone is OK still.
