So that's your answer. If you don't actually do anything with your phone, the battery will last.

Mine is on 1h37m now, 77% battery.

Got over 10hours Screen On Time on Saturday with 12hours usage, I was watching the entire 1st season of 'The 100', as well as keeping an eye on Fantasy League Football (BPL) using Chrome, played music via BT in my car, and a few phone calls. The batt life is incredible on this phone, mine is the Voda N910F that I loaded with unbranded German FW. I know the N910C is suffering from some WiFi bug when WiFi is supposedly off.

Anyway, screenshots from Sat:

Here's the link. The deal expired but I still got it for the same price in January. http://www.guzzle.co.za/specials/view/854786/

That's a Note 3 so I'm sure just about any phone would fit easily... One neat thing is like if you're using GPS, especially on a hot day, the aircon still keeps the phone icey cool. That's the biggest difference that I've noticed between this and the dash mount, were once you have reached your destination and remove the phone it would be dangerously hot from the GPS/processors + heat from being in the sun so long.

And for under R40 it's a steal.

That looks winning. Forgive me for being daft, but what actually holds the phone in place in normal portrait mode?

I bought it too. Actually just arrived from takealot (spent some ebucks, not as cheap though).

This thing is quite toight around the phone, there are springs that grip and hold it in place.

Thanks. I just searched kalahari for it (still have my Huawei vouchers) but could only find a Garmin equivalent for like 200 bucks. That what you bought?

If you want to wait till this evening, I'll give you some feedback when I get home :)

Even better. I currently have windscreen mounts which work well but they do obscure some of the windscreen, make the phones more accessible and obvious to thieves and also are in direct sunlight all the time.

I stay away from any car holders, I travel often on Wiliam Nicol, Witkoppen and Beyers Naude, in and out of traffic, seen and heard of way too many smash and grabs; phones been taken out or with holder, GPS units etc...

Holder works quite lekker. Just be sure your vents are in the right spot. My vents are shaped funny... But it grips very lekker, both the phone and the vent.

Sounds good. Think I'm going to order one or two.
