If you needed battery life you should have got a Z3 or Z3 Compact.

Xperia Z3 is 2hours short of the Note 4 in GSMArenas battery life test, so what are you on about?
The Compact is the one with an incredible score, don't know if its worth that small display though.

No, you should get a Moto X. Or the Huehuehuehuewei 4G LTE Whatever, the biggest battery ever in a smartphone.

Yeah it's precisely because of the screen that the battery life is so good.

It's not tiny at all, basically the same size as a Galaxy S3. The resolution is lower than moat high-end phones though, which saves it a lot of power. Conversely the Note 4 has a higher resolution than most, draining the battery.

Same here. I used to top up my Galaxy S4 at work, yet the Note 4 I can leave the charger, go to work, get back home at around past 17:00 still have around 75-85% charge depending on how I was using it, then use it heavily at home and by the time I go to bed at around 22:30 it's sitting anywhere between 35-45% charge, it can easily do 1.5days of moderate to heavy use.

It certainly lasts a lot longer than my friends Galaxy S4s, S5s, Note 3s and iPhone 6. A colleague of mine got his iPhone 6 a few weeks after I got my Note 4, he noticed that I never charged my phone at work yet by mid day his iPhone is at around 50%, at that point the Note is still sitting anywhere between 93-88% :D

Do you have a N910C or N910F?
I know the C apparently chows quite a bit of battery even in stand by.
On a typical day, how do you use it? Do you watch videos, YouTube, E-Mail and Gaming?@Tsepz? My primary usage is web browsing. Taking photos (something i hardly did with my SII). I wouldn't call myself a power user but when i do need to use some of the features i still have enough juice to do that.

I have the C.

And no, if it stays on standby it's still around 90% at the end of the day. It's the display and wifi eating the battery. Oh and games absolutely destroy it obviously.

But the Note 4 is not just about the battery. There's a whole lot more that it brings to the table. I kid you not, use it for a week and you'll be singing a different tune.

Have you disabled 4G? I'm reading mixed reviews on whether it's worthwhile to save some batt...

On a typical day I use it for Web browsing, Playing music via headphones at work, playing music via BT in my car, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, alerting me for Meetings, Calendar and watching either a few episodes of a series (currently watching 'The 100') or a movie. I barely play games, I'll play a game maybe 2-3 times in a month.

I totally agree, unlike with previous phones, I don't have to worry about e.g. if I use the Camera I'll lose X amount of battery.

On the 3rd of Jan we drove back to Jhb from Ramsgate (by Margate), drive was 8hours long due to traffic, my Note 4 played music via Aux cable in the car for about 80% of the journey, I also web browsed where I could get HSDPA, WhatsAppd quite a bit and viewed Instagram quite a bit, by the time we got home I still had around 60% battery, didn't charge the phone until the next morning, the battery life is just amazing.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding a new phone. My Note 3 miraculously disappeared over the weekend. I do qualify for an early upgrade and am looking at the S5 or Note 4. Any reason besides the size, why I should get the Note 4?
So I picked up my Note 4 a few days ago. Decided to get the Gear S along with it. Only problem is no stock of the Gear S. It's on back order.

I'm still trying to set everything up on the phone. Trying to customise it. Where are all the widgets? Am I missing something? I had this cool clock & weather widget that gives me 5 day weather on the home screen.

This is crap. When my phone is not on wifi it drains battery twice as fast, or more.

Going to bed now and I'm still at 45% charge, took it off charge at 7am this morning, I just can't believe I'm getting such great battery life from a phone with:
1. Such a huge and high res display
2. An OS, last time I got such great batt life was with SE feature phones and that was with far less web browsing and social media.

I am not even worried about my phone when load shedding hits, both my Note 4 and iPad 4 have proven to be great tools for when Eskom fails us. :)

Received my LED flip cover yesterday, it looks great. (especially in the dark) I definitely prefer it over the S-view flip cover since the S-view screen picks up fingerprints too easy.

Please, tell us more about how turning OFF a radio uses more power.

Nothing, unless you turn it on.

Yes of course mobile data uses more power than wifi, but that's not what he said.

Mobile network - drains battery and bank account quickly. Wifi - drains battery less, both off - drains much slower.
