Better than on kitkat?

much the same imo. but a lot of people have reported the "deep sleep" which i haven't experienced. not sure if it is because I have a lot of background services running, ie. connected wear watch.

I decided to try the Voda Lollipop ROM, and so far so good, its nice to have the correct Region ROM back in ones phone.
Battery life is great, I haven't had any batt life complaints on any of the Lollipop ROMs I've tried

I've done the same. I like it so far.

I don't like the toast notifications I'm receiving in whatsapp. They appear at the top of the screen when it is on whenever a new message comes in, and obscure the whole top portion. Anyone know how to disable them? I've Googled to no avail...

Also flashed the Vodacom update over the BTU one last night. It's very similar speed wise but does feel a little snappier.

Like mentioned by someone earlier in the thread I uninstalled all the bloatware and the only two that I could not uninstall were facebook messenger and the vodafone update software. Both I just disabled as suggested. No bloat left :)

I did not wipe my phone, simply flashed over to upgrade and keep everything and it seems perfect.

my battery life on it is just fine.

Running vodacom version 5.0.1,battery life not so good. If screen brightness is 70 it runs down fast. If its 100, by 3pm im at 50%, no high usage. When i was on kitkat it would be 70 at 3pm, same usage... Strange... Seems like something is running in the backgroud but i dont know what

which version?

I've been on the Vodacrap version for a week now. and I got it only once.

Same here. First time, but would have thought it wouldn't happen as the modem is local.

Out of interest, do you need a special sim if you want LTE? Reason being whenever I have LTE enabled via Network Mode, the signal strength is not as good as when I switch to WCDMA/GSM.

LTE is in another band. it will differ based on coverage, not on your sim. Do you see the 4G sign when LTE is on?

Yep. I get the 4G sign, but I have noticed how shockingly bad the service is, so I tend to switch back to WCDMA which is way more reliable. But I hear what you're saying. Thought there may be something I could do to improve.

These notifications are annoying. It will pop up over any app etc u using and bit tricky to swipe away. You more often than not end up opening the notification instead of dismissing it.

Any idea how to dismiss the pop up notifications?

Also.. i used to just open phone cover to check if i had any message icons at top left. Now it wont show any icons unless i first unlock screen. I am not trying to nitpick but its a little bit frustrating to have to always unlock phone to check if i have a message.

I am using an SM-910F with the German lollipop ROM (5.0.1)

Things are smooth and good. Except for a couple of issues.

1. 'Emergency Calls Only' keeps happening. Switching on flight mode and then off again solves the problem.
2. My Contacts app keeps crashing when I open it. Works on the 3rd or 4th try.
3. I dislike the new Slow-mo mode, and editing. Luckily the slow mo video gets uploaded to dropbox so I can edit it in Adobe Premiere
4. Battery life is not too good. Given, I think I am one that screws up a battery good and proper. When it hits 60% i panic and start charging it again.
5. Popup notifications are a frustration. Especially when the whatsapp groups start chatting. Then you have this massive white bar popping up after every message, probably about 2cm tall, from the top of the screen.
6. Recent apps button still seems to lag.

Other than those issues, I am very happy with the software. And the phone. Pictures are gorgeous, apps run fast, screen is beautiful, size is good.

Here is one of the better pictures I took over the weekend.

Ya, it is quite annoying.

It seems it is app-specific (the toast thing). So the whatsapp developers needs to release an update to fix the issue. And ASAP.

Yes, my battery life seems to have worsened as well which is a surprise.

These pop-up notifications are starting to really annoy now. It's Facebook, WhatsApp, and Hangouts.

Can one downgrade back to the previous version of the OS (I took the official Vodacom OTA route). Not keen for flashing or routing.

Have you tried this?

Heads up notifications in Lollipop are called priority interruptions. They come in when you have a call, a message or an event. Developers are also free to integrate priority notifications, so even apps like Facebook or WhatsApp could integrate it.

While priority notifications are toast, which means they will disappear after a couple of seconds, they can still be annoying.

To customize these notifications, go to Sound and notification -> Interruptions. Here you can select/deselect priority interruptions and even customize whose calls qualify for priority notifications.

haven't done it myself, so don't know the down side.
