Heyup...

Who else got this phone?

I finally got my grubby little paws on this phone Monday morning, and it's nothing short of amazing.

I still have to figure out the how, what and where as my previous phone was a Nokia 5230. It's a big step, and it's totally different.

The phone is very snappy and responsive, and I like that :D

I have already loaded a couple of apps (bible reader, avg for android, remote desktop, ssh client, angry birds [oh yes] amongst others).

The only issue I had with it was that the bundled gtalk client can't connect to the server. So I installed IM+ (from shape.ag as I had the exact same client installed on my iPad.

So far so good. Now I have to fine tune it (battery life, performance etc...)

Simply amazed by this phone...

I have it and already upgraded to the newer one, but I can't see anything the S2 can do that the S can't. Really good phone. It won Europe's smartphone of the year in 2010.

Things you can to do get the most of your battery life is to just use edge, or no data what so ever. I used a custom rom, but it I could get 10 days out of it, that is with no data on. But you don't really want to use a smartphone like that.

Some cool & must have apps:

Quick Settings
App 2 SD
ASTRO
AnTuTu Benchmarking
Dolphin Browser HD
Go SMS Pro
IMO (can add quite a few accounts)
Instagram
SyncMyPix
Tapatalk
Opera Mini

I had a SGS for a few months & I managed to pick up a 5 month old S2 for R 2 800 about 2 weeks ago. They are really great phones, especially coming from a BB.

Seems the SD card I got with it is a bit iffy :erm:

No sweat, it got 8Gb of internal storage.

I got a 2Gb SD card somewhere. Not gonna cry about that wonky 8Gb SD card... just gonna test it, and if it's faulty, chuck it away.

It already ruined two photos...

Nice one, Ook! Had mine since mid-2010 and have been loving it. Stepped up from a Nokia N73 (still one my best phones).

My SGS had to go to the "hospital" recently with power problems :( but cannot wait till I get it back now.

Look out for Tapatalk or the MyBB apps for access to the forums off your beauty.

... or Dolphin Mini which I converted to from Dolphin. Small, simple and packs the punch it's bigger boet has. No issues with it at all.

I had the same issue with mine. I moved all my apps to my sd card & then one day I put my phone on & it couldn't see ****. I had to format the SD card then it worked again fine. Eventually bought a new sd card & it happened again so I think it might be the phone but thereafter I had no issues at all.

@McT

Does that Mini one still use flash?
