CM12 gives this device another lease on life :)

It's a bit slow, but can't really compare it with newer devices as it's pretty old now.
It is starting to become my only gripe with the phone: it is running out of horsepower.

I ordered a 32GB G2 today so my S2 will be up for sale soon.

The G2 is lightning fast with CM12 loaded on it. The difference between the S2 and G2 is night and day in this regard.

I want another device that can last me 3+ years, like this S2 has - I hope the G2 delivers. I only changed the battery on it and then several customs ROM's. Otherwise it's a bulletproof smartphone.

I gave my S2 a breath of new life today, I thought the USB port was in need of replacement as only one of my cables would charge it and only at a certain angle (something had to keep the cable pushed up and to the right for it to charge at all - breath on the phone and it would lose the connection) and connecting to a computer wasn't possible. Turns out I had lint wedged right up in the back of the port, I cleaned it out and my phone is good as new.

Don't tell anyone but I use it more than my S5

What is stored on 1.97GB device storage space?

I know the apps are there, and what else?

I don't even have a lot of apps installed and no FB for example but it gets full and then the apps don't want to update. It gets to 1,7GB full and then stops being able to do updates.

Just dropped my S2 1.5metres onto a hard tile floor, pieces flying. Reassembled and switched on.
All good.

My S2 is still going strong, the only problem is that the wi-fi stopped working and after doing everything that the internet suggested I have come to the conclusion it is a hardware error.

Wifi keeps mine in service. It will be a sad day when/if it stop working.

CM 12.1 (Android 5.1) build available for S2. Installed it along with Gapps minimal edition and it seems much faster than CM12.

CM12.1:

Gapps:

Hi There is this still the best software available for the S2? Have an old S2 that is still going strong, but RR is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Going to try this later, when loadshedding threat is over.

Oh frackit!

I don't know if I bricked my phone or what.

It now says "enter password to use encrypted device storage" after I tried.

I've tried flashing with stock ROM now with odin but "enter password to use encrypted device storage" is still there.

I've tried various passwords, no help. It happens right after the splash screen so can't get beyond that.

Just re-flash your original PIT file and start fresh.
