Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra

Anyone seen a S24 on sale, only found this ?

Note that its a 3rd party seller. I've seen lots of grey imports and 12 month warranty listed all over.

I've been toying with the idea to get the S24 FE & buds 3 @ Takealot for R15 499 but not 100% convinced I should go for it.
Pity the S24+ is not yet available locally

Ahh thanks will look for a Black Friday deal, otherwise just wait for the S25 and hope for a trade in special.

S24FE looks good just to big for me

Try Carbonite. You can get some great deals there.

I bought the S24FE and Buds 3 combo for R14449 on Black Friday - the phone is fine - software wise it has around 90% of what the rest of the S24 range has and it obviously doesn't have the better glass or the S-Pen or the good camera's that the S24 Ultra has but given that price it is a decent phone ..... the Buds 3 on the other hand are actually IMHO rubbish - there is no way that these things get to stay in your ears for long - they are pathetic and no wonder Samsung are throwing them away with Black Friday offers - if you really need something like this then the far more expensive Buds 3 pro are something that will actually do a job but its a throw of the dice as to whether they are worth their price (probably not because at similar pricing levels you will get Sony in ears or even Sony or Sennheiser full size noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones for not huge amounts more, so these Samsung thingies are just garbage dressed up and i wouldn't bother with the Samsung in ears at all) i'm just keeping them cos i got them for free with the phone

so has anyone been using the AI features of their phones and/or even Samsung Dex - i tried both with my S24FE and both work pretty impressively - i used wireless Dex with a OTG dongle for my USB keyboard and mouse - and while there was a bit of latency over the wi-fi it still did pretty well - because manage to do lots of things that i want to do - and a lot of the camera AI features are highly usable - still need to learn how to use some of the other AI features but the camera ones work pretty much as intended - kind of like using a mini/mobile photoshop

i tried downloading Dex for PC but during the install it kept informing me that support for interfacing with windows was going to end with One UI 7.0 - so if you want to use Dex it has to be straight to a monitor or to a TV - and while i am on One UI 6.1 only the Dex for PC app failed to install on my laptop

The best features are the composer, writing style, spelling and grammar tools, and transcription tools. I have experimented with AI photos and just leave the enhancements enabled; I don't think I can really notice much of a difference there. The AI art features do not really appeal to me.

Overall, it has been a fantastic device with very few issues other than the screen grain and the phone losing its oleophobic protection. I just put on a decent screen protector, which took care of that.

Samsung Galaxy S24 family to get faster fingerprint unlocking

Samsung is in the middle of its public beta testing phase for One UI 7 based on Android 15. The latest iteration of the skin will make its official stable debut with the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, expected to be unveiled on January 22.

After that, the update should roll out to older Samsung devices, starting with the Galaxy S24 family. Speaking of which, today a new X post by prolific Chinese leaker Ice Universe brings us some good news regarding the speed of fingerprint unlocking on the Galaxy S24 models. This will be faster, and the sound is apparently clearer too, as demonstrated in the video below showing unlocking on a Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The S24 devices already have the best hardware for fingerprint unlocking speed, using ultrasonic sensors which are faster than optical ones (and also work when your hands are wet). This has long been a differentiating feature for Samsung's flagship line (though now competitors are catching up), but hiccups in One UI software have sometimes made the unlocking experience unnecessarily slow-feeling.

Samsung Galaxy S24 sales outpace S23 series, foldables decline

Samsung enters the new year with mixed news. On the positive side, demand for the Galaxy S24 has outpaced previous models by 18% across all three flagship variants.

However, cumulative sales of the Galaxy Z6 foldables have decreased by 6%, with the Flip underperforming and the Fold matching its predecessor.

The information comes from Hana Securities, which was reported by social media user @Jukanlosreve.

The unimpressive performance of Samsung's latest foldables took the entire global market down, and Counterpoint Research revealed the segment shrunk by 1/3.
