Samsung is still busy rolling out the big One UI 6.1.1 update that brings an unusually large number of new features and interface improvement, though it leaves out some older flagship series of theirs as not powerful enough.

Typically, Samsung starts testing the next version of Android immediately after Google details it at its I/O conference in May, and pushes the stable build in the October-December period, first to its flagship S-line series.

This year, however, due to the drastic uptake of AI features, it is apparently delaying the Android 15 update that would come with the next One UI 7 overlay for the sake of a much humbler One UI 6.1.1 variant.

Should I get the S24 Ultra now or wait for the S25 Ultra?

Neither, get the phone that smokes the competition according to users and one benchmark.

Lol and which phone would that be? There is some much noise at the moment. People seem to be returning the Iphone 16s and yet I just read an article suggesting the 16 is the best thing since sliced bread.

It may or may not be that one, I don't know as yet, I've not been told by the people which one ;-).
Honestly though the S24 ultra would be a good bet, the 25 ultra will only come out around Feb next year, plus it will probably have a few minor teething issues, while the S24 will be polished.

They're just going back to their old iPhones.

Rumour has it the S26 Ultra is the one to wait for ;)

Look, I'm no fan of waiting as there is always something better around the corner. If you need a phone now the S24 Ultra is one of the best if not the best phone on the market.

The S25 is 4 months away and I doubt it will be a big step up from the S24.

What would sway me is a good deal. Maybe a new "second hand" S24 Ultra from Carb or the S25 trade in deals if you have a supported phone. I got R14400 off my S24u this year by trading in a 5 year old S10e.

Statement reminds me of a oke in high school.

He is probably still on XP waiting for the next best OS. He can tell you on day 1 all the faults without touching the OS and how kak it is. Then he is waiting on the next OS yet again.
Daar sal altyd n **** wees

Impossible, I've been told second hand Samsungs go for a pittance and only the superior fruit phone goes for that price.

Currently using a plastic screen protector for a few months fitted @ Vodacom Store. Scratches are visible and thumb smudges are too many.

Looking for a tempered glass that eliminates all of that and doesn't interfere with fingerprint unlock.

Any suggestions?

There's a reason even Samsung official protectors are hydrogel nowadays. Tempered glass is kak, it's actually more fragile than the screen itself. Rather look at a decent cheap hydrocel protector you can replace every so often (temu has tons)

I've always used tempered glass on all of my devices before the S24U.
Never had issues. Always smooth to touch and clean.

But I will look at those hydrogel

Sure cause they were sold as the way to protect your screen, biggest issue is that they shatter easily.

For being in the hand, think it will be far better. The straight corners cut into my meaty hands :-(

Use your left hand for choking the chicken. Happens to me as well.

I'm not a fan of Tempered glass protectors but thank goodness my wife had one on her S20 last week as the phone had a hectic fall and the tempered glass protector took the impact. It broke but the phone was 100%.
Any suggestions?
The Samsung anti-reflective ones are very nice. S24u's anti reflective screen is a big selling point and the this protector retains most of its properties.

A bit expensive but there are 2 in the box as well as a nice installation tool.

More than likely the s20 screen would have been fine without the tempered glass screen protector. The biggest issue with screens nowadays is scratches due to the hardened glass.
