Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE and Note 2 LTE prices in SA

What is the cost of the S3 LTE over 24 months, excluding the airtime?

So VODSCUM, you got me again...

Hmmm think I might surprise myself with a gift!!

Smart Standard 229 is R399

Can someone please explain two concepts to me, which, for some or another reason, seem to evade my general logic thinking:
1. Who, in their right minds, wants LTE if your bundles are as small as the ones which Vodascam offers? LTE @ lets say, conservatively and theoretically speaking, 30Mbps with a 150MB data bundle = 5 seconds worth of download... are we going to end up spending our e-toll fees on additional data bundles???
2. As a true wireless broadband technology, why is LTE not promoted more strongly as an ADSL replacement, especially in areas where Helkom can't provide us with copper infrastructure, instead of as a mobile offering??? I suppose if the S3 LTE / Note 2 LTE supports tethering, you can share your super fast access with its super small inclusive bundle with some peeps around you, but h#ll bru.... ooooo eeeeeh eeeeeh

My last question to my esteemed and respected fellow forum members....are we back at the first days of 3G where a 3G enabled multi-mode handset (2G, 2.5G, 3G) only had a battery life of 6 hours....with the world famous manufacturers disclaimer against their 100 hours standby of "* - All figures indicative, network dependent"???

Any ideas on what the Note 2 LTE costs cash??? I'm not going to get roped into these evil contracts!! I asked at 3 Vodacom stores and 1 MTN store, and they advised me "Sorry Sir, we do not sell phones cash"

LTE only works if you have a contract sim with vodacom anyway :p

unless you are planning to use a top up contract sim card

...and just when I thought I'll finally be ditching Vodacom....now this.

Can anyone confirm the spec (CPU and RAM) on the locally available S3 LTE?

I don't love Vodacom either but this question is applicable to all operators
a) LTE is not rolled out much yet and the teething hassles associated with congestion etc. are not dealt with.
We are back to the days of early 3G (only faster) where the networks dont want you to use too much because they cannot cope

Having said that as long as the per unit costs are not more than 3G you dont lose out.
You dont have to use more bandwidth. It just gets delivered to you faster. So youtube doesnt buffer.
LTE doesnt consume more than 3G. Users consume more.
Of course in the longer term they hope you will use a lot more and around that time the prices will come down.
But in simple terms they cant handle you hitting their LTE network too hard in the early days.

As above. LTE is not ready to even begin replacing ADSL.
They cant handle it yet.

Sure it can compete in the longer term.
Unfortunately not everywhere. Even when they reach Cape Town it will suck in the tree-lined, hilly areas close to mountains. My 3G is useless and I have tested all 4 networks.

The good news is that I heard a rumour that my area is on Telkom MSAN list (thats 40Mb isnt it?)

For F@ck sake CellC, when are we gonna have Note 2 LTE?

Cell C appear to be always late with their contracts. For example they launched iPhone 4s deals right at the end of the phone's lifetime. Maybe their CEO should give attention to this instead of chasing price cuts all the time.

30Mbps is megabits per second. 150MB is 150 megabyte. There are 8 bits in a byte. So it won't theoretically be used up in 5 seconds; it will be theoretically used up in 40 seconds.

Just being douche :p

For people living in Gauteng.

Mind you, they need something to divert their attention from the e-trolling.

Which is so stupid, a Vodashop in Cape Town says we might get the phones sometime next year... what a let down after having waited for the S3 LTE

Has anyone been able to order the Galaxy Note 2 LTE?

Vodacom upgrade centre 082 1959 have no idea about this phone being available?

Thanks.

Galaxy Note 2 LTE is available on Vodacom network, now only if the staff at 082 1959 knew this so we can upgrade!
