A week or two ago I preorder the SGS4 on Vodacom.

Vodacom phoned me this morning offering me one for delivery on Friday.

I didn't enquire about all the packages but those I did enquire about are:
Smart talk M - R500 pm
Smart talk L - R650 pm
On both packages you get an extra 250MB of data as part of their promo.

SGS 4 variant:
- Colour - Only black available
- Processor - Octa core (they lady was unsure but she did say the LTE version will only be available later and that it has a 1.6GHz processor)

Yup. Me too!

My preference is the black + Exynos 5. Too many white S3's floating around. Though I see the S4 is not plain white / black, it is sort of textured (they call it frosted).

Awesome. I do think their pricing is a little steep though

Wouldnt you guys think it wise to wait for the LTE version? That's what I'm doing. They also called me but I told them I would wait.

Well imo the non-LTE version is the superior version. The non-LTE = Exynos 5 (2x4 core processor) and the LTE = Snapdragon 600 (quad core). The Exynon on paper and looking at the benchmarks is a lot faster (running on the faster cores) than the snap dragon and in theory a lot more energy efficient (running on the low power cores). LTE also chows battery.

Overall: Non-LTE = better performance + better battery life

Is L=Large? If so, how can smart talk L be cheaper than smart talk M?

I get what you're saying but with removable battery and keeping one with you at all times like I do with my S2, the battery issue is non existent. As for processors, my dual core S2 runs 99% of apps perfectly. The Exynos isn't ever running 8 cores, just switching between the 2 for various purposes. Maybe the benchmarks show a slight improvement between Exynos vs snapdragon but my phones purpose is primarily around surfing, forums, youtube, downloading etc.

For my purposes, LTE in future will be a huge plus.

They called me as well. R469 for the cheapest contract. Includes a measly 75 mb data, 75 minutes and 100 smses. Seriously annoyed. Now I'll have to wait until my current contract ends in a few months time and then go with Cell C.

hahahaha! that is seriously pathetic man... 75min and 75mb data for R469??? :wtf:

VC, hurry up and phone me dammit :D
I tried calling the upgrades department, but they said the deals aren't on their system yet, and might only be in two weeks time  They said I need to wait for this 'special' team to phone me if I did the pre-order.

I see guys here have quoted 'subsidized' deals from VC, anyone know what the cash pay-in is on contracts?
