The power saving messed with my wake up too (stock VC rom & exynos).

Dropped my S4 from 1m onto a stone floor today....landed flat on its back though so all good. :D

Got my G2 yesterday so the S4 is on its way out. I must say there's a world of difference between these two in terms of build quality, speed, screen quality and hand-feel.

Can anyone please tell me what effect rooting a stock 4.4.2 rom will have if Knox has never been used / activated? I see some guides advise that Knox needs to be removed when rooting, but others don't even mention it or just say Knox will stop working. Do I need to remove or inactivate it somehow, or can I just ignore it?

My brother has the G2 so I've used it quite a bit. The G2's screen is brighter. Whites on the S4 appears slightly yellowish next to the G2. The sub-pixel arrangement on the G2 is also better which increase the perceived quality of the screen. In my experience there is no difference in speed during normal usage. Scrolling menus on the G2 behaves a little differently (some stuttering if I remember correctly). Maybe they use a different algorithm than Samsung, I don't know.

I agree about the better build quality and hand-feel.

The Knox flag might be triggered during the process, but I don't think you need to do anything. Just root.

So just 5mins ago I went to my S4 i9500's SW Updater in Settings, and boom it's now downloading a 83mb update. I'm on the Russian CSC (SER) and was currently on the very latest NG3 KitKat FW. I hope this is 4.4.3, fingers crossed...

EDIT:

Still 4.4.2, went from NG3 to NH4, I don't see any difference, must be all under the hood fixes.

Anyone else not getting LTE? Sim has been provisioned by Afrihost and no matter where I am even next to towers in the middle of the coverage I don't get LTE. This in Pta and Jhb. Standard 9505 no root and setting for all including LTE.
Any thoughts?

I think the problem is on Afrihost side. Try rebooting.
I had endless issues with Lte when I was with Afrihost. Had to keep toggling Lte off and on to get it to work. I eventually cancelled the service.
