Yes.

Try this: with the usb cable plugged in, insert the battery while somehow still holding in down+home and pressing power. As soon as the screen goes black remove the battery.

You need to time this right before the loop starts.

Don't worry about power, the usb power will keep the phome going until you've flashed your new firmware.

Rinse and repeat until you get it to the download mode
You just goes into download mode, not safe mode

Are you asking? In the affirmative, yes.

You need to have Odin, nothing else will work now.

meant yes :p ok, so need to put odin and download the latest android firmware from samobile?

downloading version 4.4.2 got the phone into the download mode, odin installed. so now its just wait and see

Yesh. Give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose.

I managed to get it into download mode with the above method whe my wife's S3 was stuck in a boot loop.

No reason why it won't work on an S4

downloaded the firmware from SAmobile which is an md5 file? odin says i need a PIT file? ideas?

EDIT - added it to the bootloader partition loading now

Sorry, was walking when I made that last post :D

Leave any and ALL default settings as is. The only thing you need to do is click on the PDA button and select the .md5 file.

using odin 3.09, no option for PDA...
its installing now..

EDIT. Didn't work, downloaded odin 3.07 now and it has the PDA option

just dropped it off at Samsung to get fixed. hopefully will have it back tomorrow.


just collected my phone :D not bad, 3 hours to fix it
