I briefly tried out Cyanogenmod 11 and in the process had to flash a Chinese modem in order to deal with the call quality issues.

I'm now going to flash Omega - it seems like v24 is the latest version. I should probably revert to a modem that is optimized for South Africa.

How do I go about getting my hands on the right modem (for the i9500 in SA) that is flashable through the CWM recovery?

I'm looking at this thread, but have no idea which modem to use.

Help greatly appreciated :)

Edit: Or will a modem automatically be flashed when I flash Omega v24?

2 things, 1. That list looks outdated, I only read the first page though. I haven't flashed a modem on my S4 and I'm running XXUGNF6.

2. I've used Chinese basebands on other devices... Usually they are good. I wouldn't stress about flashing a modem unless you have issues :)

If using odin would prob flash new modem with. You sidnt do a backup beforehand?

I made a complete Nandroid backup. How do I go about just restoring the modem?

Are you using a i9505 or i9500? Also, is it the stock firmware with the stock modem?

I suspect my reception has been worse since I flashed the Chinese modem, so I'd like to revert to whatever modem we're supposed to be using here.

Edit: I installed XXUGNF6 modem and all seems well again. Thanks for the help!

are you sure the photos arent on your SD card?

As for Omega v24, the call quality is perfect. I have never had any issues with it.

Whether your camera saves your photos to the internal memory or the SD card, it should be stored in DCIM/Camera.

Make sure the phone is set to photo or camera transfer instead of media transfer. Otherwise the pics won't show

Has anyone ever had the silver strip around the screen replaced? I dropped my phone this morning on to tar and it's chipped the silver strip :-( screen is fine everything else is fine. My cover acted more like a parachute slowing the phone down before it hit, but the plastic silver lining took a knock :-(

No, but my silver is peeling off on it's own accord at 3 different spots on the bezel - I am rather annoyed but have not taken it to a Samsung repair agent to enquire whether it is covered by the warranty.

That would annoy me as well :( especially since it's not of my own doing. Mine I can say is my fault kind of ;-). Wonder if a ADH screen replacement will do it.

From what I've heard, they will replace the silver sides of the phone when replacing the screen. But I don't think they will just replace the silver when the screen is still fine.

ADH only applies for a broken screen and water damage. They only fix the silver as an extra, I guess.

So I need to really break my phone ;)

/Pictures the scene...

Walk into Samsung repair store. "Can you please replace my damaged silver bezel"
Samsung agent "Yes but it is not covered by ADH"
Smash screen against counter "How about now"
Agent "No problem, please collect your phone in 3 hours"

So wife's S4 behaved very weird this week (standard MTN software not routed ) so we were on holiday (Durbs so not like using roaming) and the phones battery was ****! would lose at least 50% battery just sitting over night (tried both on hotels wifi and 3g) she would have to keep charging a couple of times a day (checked usage and it Android system was using the battery looks like keep awake was using majority of battery.
We back home and no problems, phone back to normal minimum battery drain.

This Happen to any one else?

Yes it's probably the gpsd bug, when signal is really bad the phone tries to stabilise signal and the gpsd starts to run. Did the back near the camera get really hot? If so bam I had it due to Vodacom being horrible.
