Hey, Sorry guys, i never got a notification for your responses.
So what Rom would you recommend?
I'm hearing CM allot on this thread?

Must i rather wait for Lollipop?

Side question, since the ABSA app is no longer going to work on a rooted device, can i assume it won't work after i have installed a custom rom?, which leads me to my second question, is it possible to unroot a device on a custom rom?

You mentioned "Backup" are we talking normal KIES device backup, or "Titanium Backup" ?

Do you have XPosed installed? If so, get the RootCloak module.

All solutions require root.
1. Use Titanium backup to remove apps. or..
2. go even further if you like - flash Omega, or...
3. go all the way - flash CM.

My device is rooted,
The problem is as soon as I remove the apps, a day later i see they are all back

SO Omega is a Rom?, and I assume CM is a more basic rom (even less bloat) than Omega?

Have you removed it from your apps in the Google Play app?
Uninstalled and then clicked the cross next to its name in the Play app.

Im failing to see the cross next to its name, or the Pre-installed apps rather.
I just uninstalled Trip Adviser, im 99% sure it will be back tomorrow.

Can anyone help me? I'm trying to root my S4 I9500, but when I get to the download mode on the first screen where it says press volume up to continue or down to cancel, I try pressing volume up but nothing happens?

The volume buttons definitely work as I can change the volume

Phone is on 4.4.2

The cross shows on normal apps, but not Samsung Bloatware. I'm pretty sure it's standard though, you don't wanna accidentally lose your POS samsung pre-installed apps.. :p
I actually found a app which can remove the build-in apps, its called "System App Remover", phone must be rooted.

Samsung I9500 Galaxy S4 to get Lollipop early next year

The current Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S5, will be getting Android 5.0 Lollipop, it was even demoed on video. Last year's flagship will not be left out, sources claim the Galaxy S4 will be updated too. The question then is "which S4?" since there are plenty of versions.

The sources point to the Exynos-based Galaxy S4 with model number I9500 will be first. This should be early next year, barring any extra-long delays from carriers.

The Snapdragon 600 version (I9505) should be getting it sometime later on, the Galaxy S4 Active (I9295) should be getting at the same time since the internals are basically the same. There are also Snapdragon 800 versions – the Galaxy S4 LTE-A (I9506 and some local versions) and the Galaxy S4 Active LTE-A. Those are essentially based on the Galaxy Note 3 with S800 platform (the Note 3 with Exynos uses a different chipset than the I9500).

We'd love to see an official update calendar by Samsung for its recent flagships, instead of getting hearsay for each of the dozens of models and variations the company offers.

My phone is so slow at the moment it's driving me mad. Also the battery doesn't last half a day... :(

It's not rooted, can anyone please advise me on the best way to backup all my photos/videos/sms's/important stuff and start fresh?

I noticed this on certain apps too. If you were disabling it, not uninstalling it, it does come back. Play Store still pushes the updates. Freezing with Titanium works far better than disabling, if you prefer not to delete system apps.

I find trip advisor to be very helpful in finding places to visit. Even here in Jhb.
I never would have even known about Maboneng without it.
