Does rooting the phone void the warranty?
Last year when my HTC Desire HD stopped working, I flashed it back to stock firmware and sent it in... no issues...
Does rooting the phone void the warranty?
Hmm ok cool thanks for the info. I'm really itching to update though, sounds the the performance increases are rather good, from posts over at XDA:

This is new kernel doing this 100% guys.
Same here on international i9500, cept I live in AZ.
3DMark score went up.
what Kernel is this? Is this it?
Yeah that seems to be the one. I'm so keen, but am doing my best to resist rooting, so I'm hoping OTA / KIES will come to the party soon![]()
No thats not it, I was wrong. Thats a custom kernel, the one people are talking about is a official kernel.

Updates are seeding worldwide but of course in SA the providers are half asleep... Kinda suits me coz I need a way to undo root (Cofface's Odin method) coz once you root and try run Software Update it says sorry your phone has been modded.
Anyone know how to unroot?
No, you were right the first time. Adam Kernel is a custom kernel based on the kernel pulled from the OTA update (MDK), so the performance increases I quoted would apply to it as well.
If you're already rooted, there's nothing stopping you from flashing this kernel, or even the entire firmware update yourself. From what I understand from XDA, anybody with a i9500 can flash the Indian or the Russian OTA firmware. As a bonus for you, once you've flashed the new stock firmware, you'll be unrooted again![]()
Had an opportunity to play with the S4 today... some exhibit at Sandton City.
Anyway- holy crap, this device is amazing. From the 5 minutes I played around with it- the air view is brilliant, the screen is on another level, and they have actually evolved the design- much, much better...
Am very tempted to get one myself...
CellC must be sold out by now.
Killed all the other deals.
Just came across the following:

I seem to be having this exact issue - routing the phone worked fine and a root checker confirms that it is routed - however the minute I try and run an app that looks needs root privileges (e.g.: Titanium Backup) it complains that it cannot find su.
I trust that one of the devs over at XDA will find a way around this.
Cofface, the guy that did the original root specifically said that Titanium Backup does not work, supposedly using the newer Adam kernel to root allows Titanium Backup usage.
Hey guys, not sure if this has been asked before, but would anyone be able to tell me if SA will be getting the Exynos S4? From what I saw in the Cell C store, they offer the Qualcomm variant...
Reason I ask, is specifically to do with the DAC- the Exynos variant has the rather impressive Wolfson WM5102 DAC.
Both phones are coming to south africa, at the moment, as far as I'm aware, the only S4 available in SA is the exynos variant... the Qualcomm variant with LTE will be here in a few weeks...
If you are unsure of which is which, check the model number:
i9500 - Exynos
i9505 - Qualcomm
