So I don't even have my S4 yet. I'm due for upgrade with Cell C, but waiting out the remaining months to port over to someone else, looking like MTN is best here in durban.

Anyway was ordering a few things online, so I decided to order myself a case for the s4 as well. Ended up after much research going for the Spigen SGP Neo-Hybrid in the satin silver colour.
Only negative thing I've read about it, is that it doesn't like to accept non Samsung micro-usb chargers etc, but it's fine with me since I've got 4 samsung chargers!

My guess is that it's saved in /data/data/<app_name> You will need to have root access to this to manually copy it to the other phone but there is an option on Android phones to backup data/passwords/apps etc to google, so the next time you set a phone up, it will automatically restore them. On your Note 2, Go to Settings, Backup & Reset, check the option that says "Back up my data". Now the next time you set up a new phone with your google account, it will automatically download your apps and install them to your phone.

1. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255652 and download. Link in the first post.
2. Extract all the contents. The main files you should have are Odin3.exe and cofface_I9500_cwm_recovery_en_new.tar.
3. Turn off your phone. Then hold Volume Down + Home + Power to boot into download mode. Your phone will prompt you to confirm you want to enter download mode. Press up to confirm.
4. Plug your phone into your PC.
5. Start Odin3.exe. If all is good, the top left block will go yellow to show a connection. Otherwise download Samsung Kies to get the drivers loaded.
6. Click the PDA button and select cofface_I9500_cwm_recovery_en_new.tar which you extracted earlier. Tick and click nothing else.
7. Click Start. Takes a few seconds and your phone will reboot.
8. Once booted, turn off again.
9. Now boot into recovery. Volume Up + Home + Power.
10. You will see a menu option "Root Phone". Use your volume buttons to get to it and power to execute it.
11. Reboot phone. Profit.

EDIT: Titanium Backup is critical if you are going to enter the ROM flashing arena. Unless you like the pain of setting everything up over and over. It is also handy to keep backups of all your data in the cloud so setting up a new phone is painless.
Other than that, do a Google for apps that require root. There are quite a few. Droidwall another handy one.

Hey Mike,

Im an IPhone user and only familiar with jail breaking. Is rooting the same? What are the advantages and risks?

You can really Google that, as it's a question been asked many times on the forum and over the Internet

Ye, they are the same thing.

Google "advantages of rooting android" for loads of links". I did post some somewhere in this thread I think.

Android can basically do alot of stuff that a jailbroken iPhone can do android does stock.

Your best rooting decision (based on my opinion) is to use titanium backup awesome app paired with Dropbox integration is awesome for on the fly backups.

Your choice but unless you Google what you need for rooting half thee time the normal android user won't come across a reason to root as most can be done on standard

That's a good price I think, I paid R320 from Amazon UK, and I'm getting it sent over here by family with some other things. but that's a good local price, pity the shipping isn't free
