Hi guys

I have a similar headache, only recently bought a 2011 Vivo, and used the BT function to play music off my phone a few times, was also getting the thump sound and resuming in safe mode to reconnect with my S5, and continue playing music.

Yesterday though, after it had switched off and resumed in safe mode, the player seems to have frozen with 4 digits on the display. No music plays and i can't change to FM, USB or CD. I've pressed all the buttons and nothing happens, only the power on/off works and the numerical buttons. The display reflects "1000", can update to whatever numerical buttons i press. The phone is no longer connecting and I really have no idea on what to do.

Any ideas?

That sounds like either the lock code of the radio, or the Bluetooth pairing code, maybe try disconnecting and reconnecting the cars battery?

Or try taking the car and phone to the nearest VW dealership and asking for assistance.
Funny enough, they sometimes quite keen to help fix quick things without charging... if you ask nicely.

If you're in the Sandton area, go past Hatfield VW along William Nicol, they'll gladly lend a hand

Welcome to the crapy service of VW SA

This is absolutely ridiculous. After 4 months of waiting I finally get a call from Saku stating he just set up for my car to go in on Tuesday as that Rene can only fit me in then and I have to drive the car there. This is disgusting. It has taken vw sa 4 months to make a booking on my behalf and on top of that lying to me as apparently Rene isn’t always there, which I know he is. Paul, the most useless manager in the world has not bothered to call me back once out of the 3 messages I have left for him. Now I must take my car in to accommodate VW Woodmead, when last time they would fetch it seeming as I have been there 7 times this year. I feel sick when dealing with this horrible company and I’m tired of being treated like a clown. After telling Saku that I refuse to bring my car in they must fetch it like last time as I have accommodated them enough, he said he can’t tell them to do that, which is fine, so I asked for Paul to finally return a call and I was told that he will not call me. So again it’s my god dam problem to deal with these idiots. If you don’t want to help a client who is on a full service and warranty then tell me so I can take legal action. This is utterly disgusting in service and just because I drive a low costing car doesn’t mean I don’t deserve the same treatment as a Golf R driver. I’m over the **** service given and have emailed my lawyer all past posts on this page, all emails that haven’t been replied to, and all call logs to VW from my work / and cell number. I will make VW’s life a living hell until I get my polo vivo 1.4’s Bluetooth working with both media and calls. Now I will be posting this on as many forums and social media sites as I know how to show SA what the true colour of VW is in sa. Bunch of useless and disgusting people that don’t care about their customers.

I had the same problem as you, Lindsey Saker Midrand and VW Acardia both failed to help me. I even got VW SA involved and all they could do was send me back and fourth to their dealerships. I had my car booked in 4 times in 2 months for this and up till this day the problem is not solved.

Samsung S6 Edge + bluetooth safemode issue

Hi guys

I had the same issue. went to vw on william nicol. The technician there gave me a long story about how the software on the radio isn't compatible with the newer software on the newer phones and that basically vw cant upgrade or fix it. Apparently even their latest cars doesn't work properly, i mean you could spend R50k for a fancy radio that doesn't work. haha!

How i fixed my radio in my 2013 polo vivo was to go onto the phone and follow the following steps:

>> Go to bluetooth settings for the vwradio, and turn off "Contact and phone log"
>> Switch on "Call audio"
>> Switch on "Media Audio"

Seems like the "Contact and phone log" option is the issue, will just have to do without it unfortunately.

I have to say though, its not a fix but it is actually a work around/compromise for a krappy designed radio.
