Thinking of getting one, perhaps even tomorrow, for cash (R1,349).
This will be my intro. phone into the Android, and for that matter Smartphone market.
Btw, affordability isn't the issue, but I assume this is a good entry-level phone.

Given all the info. in my thread, my (main) questions are to confirm if the major drawbacks with this phone, are :

1. (relatively) low resolution ;
2. battery life due to the ''Standard battery, Li-Ion 1200 mAh''

I'll use it a lot of the time via wi-fi, and when out & about, mainly for Gmail ; also, will attempt to read e-books - I don't expect the best e-readering experience, but want something more than a Kindle reader, so willing to try that out. Can this phone handle landscape, or only portrait view - or is there an app. for that !

I'm not into gaming, but the CPU speed should be more than fast enough (830 MHz ARMv6).

Also, are there any apps / features I should / can delete if I get one - those that might run in the background eating up valuable battery life.
(I don't intend rooting it, as Gingerbread should be good enough for me - may do so, once the 2-year Voda./manufacturer guarantees are up, with ICS if the phone can handle it - what are you thougths on that?).

Have been made aware recently that ONAVO should be put on (reading Elimentals' posts).

Any other things I should do, to get the most out of the phone, taking into consideration what I've typed.

Thanks in advance.

I have the Galaxy Y pro which is essentially the same spec but with a qwerty keyboard. i find that with moderate use - that is wifi on at home for a bit but 3g connection all day, some games, whatsapp and so on the battery lasts for about a day and a half on a full charge, although i have occasionally gone past two days.

The screen is not the greatest but it's ok considering the price of the phone. Watching videos on it is reasonable.

personaly waiting for the dual sim editions of these 2 phones - they should be here in the next 4-6 weeks - according to the samsung experience store.

I am looking to get 2 of the Galaxy Y pro duos for my son and the other as my spare.

Thanks for the useful feedback.

I'm inclined to now wait for the Dual SIM equivalents.
Had seen them on GSM Arena, but wasn't sure if / when they'd be out here. I'm in no rush, so even up to a 2 month wait won't be problematic.

Although not everything answered - such is life - what I'd now like to know is if Qwerty keyboard is preferable to using Swype or it's equivalent ?
Like the idea of using Swype if it works well.
