Samsung Home Theatre woes

The DVD player has trouble recognising DVDs and only work 20% of the time.

I can't just throw it away as it came with 2x tallboy speakers (rear-reflecting surround sound) and the speaker connections are non-standard (some type of silver ribbon cable).

I've opened the unit up & cleaned the laser with cotton & lens cleaning solution, which helped a bit but still useless.

So is there any way that I can use those speakers with my Sony DVD player, or how much should I expect to get for it at Cash converters?

Rewire the speakers, and from my experience I can say that "bangsomes" are notoriously bad at reading +discs. They tend to like originals only.

Yeah just rewire the speakers or try to see if the ribbon has just two wires that you can use instead. I just stay away from any optical products by samsung. They always seem to give me trouble. 3 dvd writers, 1 home theatre and 1 dvd player. All don't pick up discs properly.

It's the HT-DS760T.

I'm not sure how to rewire the speakers.

If you still want to use the speakers you will need to buy an amplifier, you cannot just connect it directly to your DVD player.
