Who's buying one?

Not me, not with the atrocious battery life.

As much as I like the watch.

I’ve also got a Huawei and you just get used to NOT charging the battery. When new was something like 2 weeks. It’s lost 2 or so days, but it’s still better than 90% of watches out there.

I’ve been looking at a replacement and at a ‘normal’ price the Garmin Venu 2 is more than likely going to my next watch @ 9 or 10 life

Who here will be buying the Watch 5 Pro?

At R12k for the Bluetooth model, we are being properly shafted.
I am planning on getting the LTE version - Combo with Flip 4.

Honestly it is a great deal...

Going from a Gear S3 that barely lasts a day, I don't sleep with my watch so I don't mind charging every day

Oh I missed this.

Never tried Strava

And did get the Garmin in the end.

I think for one of the 1st times in my life I actually placed an order at the right time before price increases. The watch is already 10% higher and with the R/$, I assume it'll get worse. The only thing that I could mark the Venu down with is that it seems more dainty and fragile than the Huawei

Does anyone know if all the Health features work in South Africa.
As far as I know these were deactivated on the watch 4 for South Africa for some reason.

Ok, great thanks.

And would you recommend it?
I currently have the Fenix 6, which is great for running, but lacks smart watch features.

I would reccomend it. The swipe gestures take a bit to get used to and battery life isn't fantastic and but I charge it when I shower and it keeps it mostly topped up. I use it to track all my gym exercises and it works perfect.

How do you track the gym workouts? Im looking for tips and advice to use it better. When I go to gym, I simply select "other workout" and it basically only records heart rate and time. Only slightly useful stats. is there a better method?

It auto detects some activities like treadmill when you do it for a few minutes or else you can select your excercise on the watch and it tracks it.

Samsung Health and fitness tracking
One of watches' main appeal is Samsung's Health. The device can track pretty much everything you do throughout the day, from workouts and walks to sleep and heart rate. There are even automatic workout and walk detections - the latter works great, but the former doesn't seem as accurate as Tizen's. We often didn't get an automatic detection, and sometimes the watch would run an automatic workout alongside the manual one you've started.

For outdoor workouts, the watch has a GPS and barometer so you can later check out a plethora of stats during your bike ride or hike. We are talking top and average speed, minutes spent in certain cardio zone, elevation, route and calories burnt (not the most accurate measurement). The app on your phone will also neatly organize all of your apps in a calendar and show you what the weather was like on that day.
