Sorry if this has already been mentioned before (I looked around and used the search, but have had no luck so far), but I need some informationabout the Samsung MediaLive Media Center Extender. http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/...=acc_detail&subsubtype=digital-media-extender
Mainly, I am trying to find out whether it will be able to play MKV's containing x264/h264 streams. Also, if anybody has any experience with the above mentioned units, please could you provide me with a general overview thereof.
All the extenders are going to be running on Cat6 so, network bandwidth shouldn't be an issue. The HTPC from which content will be streamed will be running Win 7 Home Premium/Ultimate (still deciding on the budget).
Now, from what I have managed to find on the net, is that some extenders do now support MKV's with x264 streams when using Win7 with the DivX 7 codec.
I have tried to contact Samsung to query this, but, they do not sell the device here, and as such, refuse to support it as well as provide any information about it. Obviously finding a unit to test is also out of the question. I have found a way to import them (Both Have2Have and WantItAll can get them here), but, I need to be absolutly sure that they will have the required functionality before I go shelling out the cash for at least 4 of them.
