Samsung misses earnings forecast as smartphone worries deepen

Peaked nope, there's still billions to be made in lower end of the spectrum

There's near zero margins in the lower end which is why Nokia is suffering. Samsung sell in all the market segments and if there was money to be made in the lower end they'd be right in it.

Somehow its doom and gloom when growth slows....news flash media, it doesn't infinitely go on.

So Apple syndrome is attacking the other dominant player... Gotta love these analysts.

I shall just say, welcome to the real world Samsung.

Did I read it here that Samsung has shipped 20 million S4's already, and are eyeing the 100 million record? Anyway, there is some discontent with Samsung's figures because "shipped" is not the same as "sold", yet Samsung insists that demand for the S4 remains high and that they will continue shipping the units.

Another bone of contention with Samsung's competition is that Samsung has an S4 "umbrella", with the S4 Mini, S4 Active, and other versions, which Samsung is counting all as S4 sales, even though the other versions have been slightly "dumbed-down" to fit their particular applications.

Shouldn't matter too much if the margins are the same for the entire "umbrella".

I think Nokia is making a comeback. Samsung should start to focus more on their Ativ Windows 8 phone

Isn't this one of the reasons Apple has been so successful since it's resurrection? They consciously maintain margin and don't chase the volume game.

Eish - ship the most cellphones in the world (in mind boggling volumes) - still don't make decent profits

An old accountant once told me = turnover is wishes, profit is fishes - and you can fry a fish - but a wish...

S4 sales breaks all records....

Months later....disappointing sales leads to worries....

I'm confukkulated??

The high end market has been saturated. Most new phones move on contract. This only happens once every two years. Many S3 owners are happy with their phones or cannot upgrade to S4 even if they want to. Samsung should slow down their release cycle and things will be better.
