Samsung Pay on non Samsung phone

I am not with FNB. I have Capitec. It is a new account. It allowed me to add a card to Google Pay, but when I tried to use it, it did kept giving errors to check my phone.

I was with Bidvest but they do not have the ability to use any wallet apps, just the physical card.
I use Capitec on my Google Wallet account (on my S22 Ultra) and I tap to pay in the UK with it.
This sounds like either an LG issue or a user issue. Its not the bank or the app.
 
Youre using an LG Phone and an Capitec account. Thats why

The other banks have payment options with their accounts too.

Maybe use something like Snapscan, or else Mastercard's Masterpass

Have not used the LG as yet for Google Wallet. I am still deciding whether I want to change phones.

Capitec serves me perfectly. Snobs ..... go buy yourself a iPhone and go brag with your Investec account in the Apple section please.
Same. I calculated that the fees on Capitec for my transactions are about R100 less that the monthly fee I pay to Bidvest, thus the switch.

I've realized anything anyone uses has pros and cons, if you can live with the cons and enjoy the pros then good for you :laugh:

And with my Live Better reward every month, it covers my monthly Capitec credit card and account fee with a little bit left over which covers the debit order costs of which there are not too many. So, I pretty much bank for free. And I can do everything I need to and more on the app. Scan to pay. Buy prepaid airtime or electricity. Renew car license and other stuff I dont even use. I dont know where these snobs get their prejudice k@k from against Capitec but it is fcking stupid to ridicule someone for using a bank that dont extort you or want you to dance like a fcking monkey for ebucks, and has all the functionalities that their bank have anyway (except maybe international payments options or something like that), but most of us dont need that kind of thing.

I just do EFT's, 2 physical and Google subscription card payments and tap to pay. No debit orders. The basic account I am on serves my needs perfectly. Don't give a crap what people think of me banking with them.

Exactly. What more do you need. Aslo they have instant payments and Payshap. Seriously, they will meet the needs of 98% of the population. But anyway, back to your problem. The issue is not with Capitec I am pretty sure when it comes to Google Pay not working. Like said, both mine and the boyfriends cards works perfectly with Google Pay with our Capitec cards. Just make sure online purchases and tap to pay is turned on for your card/s in the app.

They are on. I managed to make online payments and use the Samsung Pay app without issue.

I am going to delete the Google Wallet app and add it again, then set it up with a new VC and see if that works.

Cool....let us know if it works. Just as a side note, if you are a new Capitec client, my app told me that for tap to pay to activate once you toggled it on, you must first insert your card into a POS machine and actually use the PIN method. Only then does tap to pay actually activate. Not sure if that is perhaps the cause of your troubles, but just a thought.

Thanks for that will check it out.

I have to go to a branch in the near future anyway. I can't get my online banking to activate. I can do everything needed via the app but I can't find where bank statements and proof of banking documents can be found. Maybe it is because it says I have a "Global" account.

Go into your app. Tap on your Savings account which should be your main account. Tap burger menu top right. Pop up should come up with "Proof Of Account". Tap it and enter the email address you want to send proof of account to. Statements are available exactly the same method.

Thanks, wish I had that yesterday when I needed to RICA a SIM. Found the setting thanks

Seems my Google Wallet was not set up correctly on my phone. I loaded the card but did not activate tap-to-pay in the phones NFC settings to allow it to use the Wallet as a payment option.
