Not sure if I should post this in the cellular sub forum, mod please move if so.

Anyway *rant on*.

So I'm currently very pissed off with my new phone , I signed a new contract this afternoon at a voda store for their advertised S6 deal on a Smart S package (the one on the voda magazine front page with the "exclusive" gold S6), got home later in the evening and put in the sim card and switched on the phone. Phone says there is no sim card, so I thought that maybe the sim card/contract wasn't activated yet. Left it to charge and fast forward 4/5 hours later and after switching it off and on and it still says no sim card. So I put the new sim in another phone to test it and it immediately registers with the phone number, etc,. Tried a working sim from a family's phone in the S6 and it says no sim card. So now I have a faulty phone to return first thing tomorrow  with a protective film I also bought and stuck on the front, waste of R200. The worst part, the salesman said that if there is a problem with the phone and returned within 7 days of purchase, they need to send the phone to a samsung repair center which takes 7 days.

Brand. Spanking. New. Phone. Faulty. Within. 6. Hours.

*Rant off*

Mystic, silly question, but are you sure you're inserting the SIM card the right way around?

I know with my S6 it was officially the tiniest little SIM tray I'd yet had to deal with, and extremely finicky to put it in.

Yea I'm sure since I tried the sim in an iPhone 5s and it works so I know that the sim works and I know how to handle a nano sim, also the sim tray is shaped with the one corner missing so it matches the exact shape of a nano sim, I would have to damage the sim and use some force in order to force the simcard in the wrong way. Same applies if I were to try and put it in upside down.

Update: Problem resolved with a new phone, took three hours this morning and a lot of "don't take no for an answer".
