Samsung Smart TVs are recording personal conversations: report

was thinking of making a post about this actually.

i have 4k samsung smarttv, not the SUHD ones tho, that they said would do this, but it has the same remote and voie functions as the SUHD.

had it all connected to my network, found something using bandwidth, then had everything disconnected, the tv connection set to wired(to make sure its disconnected, then the smart TV MAC address showed up on the wireless device list. only a layer 2 connection but uploaded 250MB. only the TV was on and its MAC address showed up on the device list, with its own settings set as disconnected/off for wifi.

how dodgy is that

That is super dodge....
I've also got a Samsung Smart TV, but never setup wireless on mine.
I'd say kill your wireless configuration on there just to be certain.

"Third Party" i.e. the NSA is searching for terrorist in their own living rooms now.

Better not plan your next attack in front of your TV :p

Preparation for WW III. Microsoft on West and Samsung on East.

The problems that come with convenience.

You want to talk to your TV & tell it what to do, fine but then we will record everything else you say too. Why don't they maybe keep a local cache of the supported commands in the TV itself and only take action on matching keywords. How dodge :wtf:

They will perhaps offer free service to unplug the microphone.
