Here's my situation : I'm debating whether or not to get the Samsung XL2370 : http://www.rebeltech.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=142_143_252&products_id=8667 or the Samsung T260 : http://www.rebeltech.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=142_143_252&products_id=5746

Price difference is not really relevant in my decision, just thinking 25.5" is bigger but only has a DC ration of 20000:1 while the 23" has a DC ration of 5000000:1

My question is can you really notice the difference in contrast ratios? and which screen would you choose?

Me thinks you read incorrectly.

Who needs HDMI on a screen that does not have speakers/speaker outputs. Just use DVI.

About the XL2370 contrast? no jokes its 5Million:1 :p

:erm: a million is 6 zeros ok. A thousand is 3 zeros. 50000:1 is fifty-thousand : one

edit

is it just me or is the link to the XL wrong

You can plug in speakers into the back of the T260.

I'd take the T260.

Maybe have a look at the 2433bw.

XL2370 for me. Is it out yet, where? I've been holding out for the P2370L but I read that it never launched and has been replaced by the XL2370. The dynamic CR is 5m:1. It has a LED backlight and it got excellent reviews. :D

A buddy of mine has the T260 and I feel it is just too big. You need at least 1.5 meter between your face and the screen, otherwise you'll look like your trying to pass your K53 drivers test.

EDIT: You have a link to the P2370 and not the "XL2370". Here's the review: http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/samsung-syncmaster-xl2370/4505-3174_7-33683882.html

Ok, hang on, this is the LED backlit display so that DC is actually correct thanks to the better lighting of the LED. However, it's still DC and no actual contrast.

Please, let me never meet a marketing person for one of these companies.

I read the review, they say the XL2370 performs better then the others because of its high contrast ratio, however the T260 is bigger but is suspected of stretching 1080p images and movies because of its 1920x1200 resolution.

You don't have to stretch. You'll tiny black bars.

The T260 will be better for work and games and even with the tiny black bars you'll get more viewing space for movies.

The resolution is better for productivity.

Who cares about a 60pixel black bar at the top & bottom of the screen anyway.

+1 for the T260. It's not too big, although it feels that way at first, but once you have run it a while there's no going back. Great for productivity, especially where you get to view a whole lot more of your CAD design at the same zoom level. Same holds for spreadsheets, etc.

That depends on what you are using to view movies. From HD player straight into the monitor's HDMI it should scale the 1920x1080 to 1920x1200. But most people will use some application which will just draw the 1920x1080 movie on the 1920x1200 screen with top and bottom bars.

I found it hard to find a monitor that did 1:1 mapping, most will scale the input to full resolution. But if you are viewing from a PC then it shouldn't be a problem.

OK cool I think I'm going with the T260 from what I saw in Incredible Connection (Cresta) but I'm definitely not buying it from there (R4000:eek:) Just one last thing some people are complaining that the T260 has got a blueish hue when it comes to images...can anyone confirm this?
