"R8 billion in bailouts since 2014"
The black sheep of the family? SAA gets R10.5bn in one go. But we can't have something useful survive and have to save our nation's "pride and joy".

Moving forward toward mud huts and bronze spears, one failed SOE at a time. Viva!
Too ambitious. Bronze equipment requires level 2.

been there. i sympathize. these days I won't ship anything unless it's coming via DHL or Fedex.
Likewise, yet unfortunately the person in the USA still sent it via post, they didn't seem to understand why I would tell them not to (until they asked me, "has the package arrived yet?" 5-6 times.) Also a company in the Netherlands would only send via post. Nowadays I just tell them, "Send it via courier or don't even bother".

I had some free time today, so thought I would check SAPO website for to track a parcel I accidently shipped via post from Germany (I have already written the cost off - some more school fees). So the international tracking page errors out. So I try call the customer care line (lol) and it just rings and rings. I eventually find the number for the post office near me where the parcel is due to be received, and eventually spoke to someone to try and track the parcel. No idea what I originally asked, eventually managed to get her to check the tracking number I had - no parcel.

So I may try a couple of times in the next few weeks to humour my self and remind myself to always check international shipping process before clicking checkout.

SAPO is an absolute mess!

China is now even refusing to use SAPO. They want to DHL everything.

NZ Post already does. You have to choose their "International Express Courier" option when sending to South Africa, and all this means is that the item you posted goes overnight to Auckland Airport and then handed over to DHL to do the rest.

AliExpress no longer offer free shipping due to these imbeciles. I lost every single of my 8+ parcels shipped by AliExpress just prior to this Covid nonsense.

When the government is populated with apex predators, don't expect the infrastructure and institutions of the country to function.

Sarcasm on

Let's go socialism/communism/tribalism/corporatism and our benevolent dictators will punish the 1% and give us the free stuff and solve all our problems. Yaaaay and orange man bad!

Sarcasm off

Well, at least there are alternatives to the Post Office in SA. Thank god for that. However, I do feel for the government staff who will lose their jobs should the Post Office finally sink.

Serious? You feel for all those ANC voters?

Just like every Government Department, the people that work there think they are superior and have no need to offer decent service.

Haven't they been on brink of collapse for like the last 20 something years?

"MyBroadband asked the SA Post Office for comment, but it did not reply by the time of publication"

Yeah well. Says it all.

The ANC secret sauce is socialism. Everything they touch is doomed.
Well, in tge USSR postal services worked. Most else was farked, but letters got (read and) delivered. Also in apartheid SA which was soft socialist, by the way. Work reservation, farmers told what to grow and where they could sell, shops closed after Sat 1 pm by law, cafes told what they could sell, state tv etc.
