SARS eFiling 2023/2024

1. Yes, it was a VAT invoice and supplier was registered
2. I just included an email confirming the appointment for installation, CoC is asked for separately
3. Rates and taxes to confirm it's a residential building and utility account asked for specifically.

Extract from my SARS letter below:

I submitted the invoices and coc only and they accepted it after an audit. Got paid my refund over the weekend!

Please help, I see SARS is saying I have an outstanding return from 2006!
How do I sort that out? I cant download the form?
And how far back can these guys go...I can barely remember 2006...(And I wont have any paperwork from then either...)

Book a Telephonic Engagement with SARS https://tools.sars.gov.za/SARSeBooking and they will phone you and sort you out, if they have anything for you that is. They are prebooked for weeks on end though so you might only find an open spot in November!

Thanks... I thought it might be a walk in adventure...
I made a branch appointment. They already had all the documents on their system and they did it all there. Got a penalty fee but my refund almost doubled with the 2008/2009 return added.

Good day guys I have a question regarding tax relating to my capitec savings account, so the total amount of income is almost rounding up to what I believe is the max amount before I start getting taxed (R36000).

I would like to know if I exceed this amount before the tax year ends (28 Feb) will I get taxed on my savings account? Will Sars contact me? Do I have to register to pay tax? I don't really know how tax works exactly because I'm doing a side hustle and I'm not employed.

I would also like to know if I had to maybe open another savings account with another bank would the amount still carry over from my capitec?

What would be my solution to avoid tax?

(Edit) I forgot to mention that on my banking app profile my tax compliant was changed automatically to "Liable to pay tax: yes" earlier this year it was no so does it already mean I have to start paying tax?

File and see and be honest. This year they hit me for returns from 2008 and 2009, although it came out in my favor, I would not mess with SARS, they have been cracking down hard on people who owe them.

Ofcourse you will get taxed. Just to confirm its a basic savings account.

I paid taxes over R23800 on interest this year. Dont BS, as providers also lodge to sars

Finally received notice that they have confirmed my payment details. Status now shows ready to be paid.

Hopefully it is not another 21 days... We need a new bed

Finally got round to filing this morning. Initial calc is a nice return of about 60K. Should have filed earlier so I could earn interest on that. Anyways, awaiting the inevitable audit.
Wow. This is a first for me since I started doing the disability claim. Zero audit. Money was in my account on Friday. So I submitted last week Tues and money in my account by Fri. Thanks SARS.

First time in 9 years that I am due a refund. It is a substantial amount and had to submit supporting docs and already received a letter of finalisation. Anyone know how long after I could expect the refund?

Mine finalized last week Tuesday and only got paid Yesterday.

They do say to give them 72 hours if a refund is due, but mine was a day more.

Unfortunately, I did not see a payment date anywhere before payment.

Tax Practitioners can submit returns older than 5 years. No need to walk in. Pay someone to do it for you - like me ;)

If you pull your ITSA payment date will reflect on there. Even before the funds hit your account. See point below - 72 hours to get a refund date.

Up to 72 hours for it to get a date. It usually takes 3 business days. If you got the finalisation letter yesterday, the first business day will be today. So I'd hazard a guess that you'll get it on Friday evening.

For those who were "selected for audit", how long did it take?

I filed on 2024/07/29 and got audit notification the same day, my tax status has said "you refund is on hold subject to audit" ever since ie 68 days so far.

2 questions:
  1. I'm not seeing my EE ZAR account anywhere. Has anyone had to add it and where?
  2. There's a question that asks: Did you dispose of any local assets attracting capital gain or loss (including crypto asset(s))? How many disposals (shares to be combined as one disposal) took place? I get that information from my main EE account's Tax Statement, so the total sales I've made is 4, right?

Only one disposal, see bold above.
