SARS PAYE question

Hi All

I have a friend who asked me to help with their tax ( submission to SARS ). Historically he has always had a travel allowance and kept a log book ( used the deemed cost method). However for 1 year he was employed at a company which did not offer travel allowances but he did do travel for business purposes.

Is there anyway to claim this back?

As far as I know, if there was no explicit allowance on his payslip for it, he can't claim against it
