Honestly, I'm getting tired of these settlements.. they cost us as a taxpayer money, and there are no repercussions for the people involved.

In my opinion, give her the settlement to get her out of the employment of SARS... then investigate EVERYTHING she did whilst in the employment of SARS and institute criminal charges for each and every breach of law she was responsible for.
To be fair, the settlement does not absolve her of any criminal activities she might have been involved in, if there are any criminal investigations should continue.

The settlement is just talking to whatever disciplinary action that SARS were pursuing against her being dropped, which might not necessarily be criminal in nature.

In her case, it sounds like there were few concessions made to make her agree to resign. Maybe they agreed not to pursue this.
I don't think SARS are in any position to protect her against a criminal investigation.

True.
What I mean is that they may have agreed to not open an internal investigation. I'm not privy to details; I was just speculating.

Given how she got on to start with, what makes you think she's off? Do you think she's just going to sit at home and do nothing now?
She is no longer working for Sars, do you know what she is currently doing? I am just going on the available information.

This is what happened, same with Luther but I suspect external charges will be laid.

You can celebrate any time you like. I see nothing to celebrate in rewarding an employee who was irregularly hired.
As much as we'd like her ex employers to take action, let's not forget the lady is politically connected. Maybe someone else will step up to the plate.

That's a cop out and basically alludes to the systemic corruption in the system as it stands.

Yeah paying her off to go away was a good idea. The previous management made it so she'd be too hard to get rid off for incompetence as they deliberately failed to manage her non performance so to fire her legally they'd have needed to first go through all that crap
