SARS wants IT specialists to help modernise its tax compliance system

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has announced hundreds of vacancies for skilled workers across various fields as part of its plan to modernise its tax compliance systems with new and evolving technologies.

“SARS is preparing for a future where increasingly our work will be informed by data driven insights, self-learning computers, artificial intelligence and interconnectivity of people and devices,” the tax authority stated.

“Mindful of this, we are evolving our workforce to prepare for this exciting changed and changing world of work.”

Server Engineers (Wintel)?!?!?

Haven't seen that phrasing in donkey's years.
That and the usage of Websphere made me chuckle nervously. SARS must have really struggled to recruit new developers/engineers over the last 2 decades if they still use that lingo (and software stack).

I get having to deal with legacy systems and I imagine the size of SARS's systems makes it extremely hard to move to more modern architectures, but really, if you still refer to "Wintel" in your job placements you are doomed. At least try get some young blood in who can get the wheels of change in motion.

And why are these jobs being advertised on a .eu domain in the language of the colonialists?

Maybe its a tarp to get people earning dosh overseas to return to SA and have their assets frozen.

On another note, isn't Dudezane planning to return to SA? Maybe he will get a job at SARS as the chief money launderer.

Good luck, are they going to import them back? Also no doubt EE will also still play a role.
