Now you're just grasping at straws.
I am? Despite having been in charge of electrical plants?
Now you're just grasping at straws.
Nope. It can be used so long as you don't go below 20% which will kill it and ensure you charge to about 80%. Ever heard of de-sulphation, equalising and conditioning charges? Something car owners don't do but industry did when there were EV's in use running on lead acid batteries.
These were done manually. The only difference with EV's is that their charges and battery characteristics are now in a programme and lithium doesn't sulphate.
Are you starting to see that I may have worked in this field?

I would assume the same time as the generator becomes a motor.
We are talking coal power station maintenance. Eskom/municipalities don't do that other stuff anymore, just wait for it to break then replace. So no switchgear, transformer, line, preventive or other maintenance in winter then?
Are we not allowed to dream? But desperately want to believe commonplace EV's will work in SA?
Page 3. Bothered using search or are you just trying to get your post count up?
Are we not allowed to dream?
Thanks might do that even my duplicates are getting likes...If you reference me something, you tell me which page. I don't search.
Talking about getting post counts up, why aren't you posting duplicates in the unfunny pictures thread?

I don't think that they do that at Eskom. No, but maintenance of infrastructure, controls, switchgear and transformers do. You can't work on that stuff live. The turbine can be left spinning at low power consumption with breakers open to do that.
You get 3 types, flooded, AGM and Gel.I didn't bother reading. You're referencing Gel where I'm talking about lead acid - sulphuric acid. Which is the cause of sulphation. Which you mentioned...
I was referring to switch gear, transformers etc.Eskom has instituted a catch up maintenance programme. If they left it to break, there would be very little capacity right now.

On power stations yes, not switchgear and substations like they used to in the old days. They do. There is a catch up maintenance programme in force at present to catch up on 20 years of no maintenance. Try no maintenance on your car and see how long it will run.

I'm not disputing that they need maintenance. I'm just saying it doesn't get done. There is no word for maintenance in Pedi.So you don't even need to change the water absorbent crystals in the transformer breather when they change colour? What happens when you don't do that?
