The SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) has asked recipients who have not received their R350 Covid-19 relief grant payment for May to wait a little longer.
This comes after frustrated recipients questioned the agency on why it issued a payment schedule for its other grants in June, instead of first addressing the burning issue of payments for this month.
The R350 social relief grant is meant for unemployed citizens and qualifying foreign citizens during the lockdown.

Addressing the issue, Sassa told those who have not received payments that they may have to wait a little longer.
The agency apologised for the delays, saying that not all payments went through the same day, but they will go through at some point this month.
“Payments were made from May 15, meaning not all payments will go through today but certainly this month.
“If you have gone through the application process, please wait for a response from Sassa. It takes a bit of time but you will be contacted. We will revert back to you whether your application is successful or not.”

On Monday, Sassa apologised after only 10 people were paid the R350 relief grant.

In a statement, Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi said Sassa CEO Totsie Memela extended an “unreserved apology to those inconvenienced by the slower than expected process”.

sassa has got to be one of the most incompetent and dysfunctional departments out there.
month after month there are payment problems across the land.

one would expect them to be operational on a 24hr basis during a national crisis, but no, offices were closed during level5 lockdown with no option to divert to electronic applications.

they may as well have no telephone system as it seems nobody is ever able to get through.
their website seems it was designed & developed by 12yr old using windows95, quite possibly the worst i have ever seen.
behold the majesty of it:

A 12 year old who got paid R 120 million for the privelage!
I won in Division 7.
You carry on, don't mind me.
You must also be happy with the way the media also likes to just hype the new cases with no regard to test numbers as well.
We should just stop testing then the thing will be gone.

After 26 years in charge you would think that the pigs at the trough would have at least got this one thing, that brings in the votes, working like a well oiled machine.

On the contrary: If you make people comfortable, they will stop voting for you. They need to be miserable, so that you can promise to fix everything after the next election!

Someone at sassa broke the computer's keyboard. Life as they once knew it came to an abrupt and unexpected halt.

It's the year 2020 and not even a mobile friendly site wow.

Probably several million rand tender for the website too. 150 grand went to the developers and 1.5million vanished into comrade bank account. Lekker times neh.

“Payments were made from May 15, meaning not all payments will go through today but certainly this month.

took a look at their facebook and twitter pages - still nobody paid two weeks later

another good story to tell:
govt lets down its people when they most desperately need help.

but its not all bad news. the sassa webpage has a 3rd of the page dedicated to photos of its glorious executive management

these people in charge... everything they touch just turns to ****, its mind blowing. they construct piles of **** and sell it as progress. oh and youre not allowed to point it out cause it makes them look bad which means youre a racist.

should start some type of provincial aid/grant, just need to make it more reliable than this and youre the favourite
