Saw a BMW i8 today

OK...so it was loaded on a transporter and not actually driving but it was there. :)

One thing that struck me though was that it has that "prototype" feel to it. You know - the prototypes look awesome and once it hits production it looks a little watered down? yeah none of that - the end car looks prototype cool.

Also...the i8 badge on the back looks weird. The 8 is readable but the i looks like a solid square block?

The i8 is expected to be launched in RSA in March 2015.

I take it the badged looked like this...

I assume it must be just for show because the communication I have seen from BMW suggests they only intend on bringing the i3 here.

i3s are huge ..you think its a small car but its quite big

saw a few in CPT a few months ago

i8 and i3 on show at the World Design Capital exhibition at the Cape Town Stadium 15-19 Oct. Lovely looking car!!!

actually just heard that's theory and not reality :(

Its on RPM as we speak. In efficient mode, they get 3-4 l/100km. In frequent use of Sport mode, they got 7-8l/100km.

I'd take a Tesla P85D over an i8 any day, if both were available, I could afford them and I wanted an electric car.
