I used to be a Schalk Burger fan, mainly because he's been such a hard worker in the rough. But after that blatant his eye gouging in the last Lions game I've now gone off him totally. Frankly, he's an arrogant twit and a dirty player, and he's totally lost all my support. I hope he never wears green 'n gold again. Shame on you Burgers (his father aint so wonderful either).

I don't think he is a dirty player in general.
But that incident on Loftus was blatant and deserves the punishment he received.
He is totally out of touch lately and needs to take a break(play in Currie Cup) until he clears his head. He is obviously frustrated at someone or something. My guess would be: himself.
Brussow is the in form player at the moment anyway.

When you put 30 overgrown steriod fed, beer guzzling, wife/gf beating men on a field you should expect somebody to lose a eye or get a neck broken. You expect these men to defend our country sport pride, but when they do whatever it takes we go all "I cannot belive they such brutes"

I say RIP HIS THROUGHT OUT, TAKE HIS EYE AND KICK IT DOWN FIELD. As long as when the clock say 80min and our score line reflects that we have won I cpuld not give a flying crap what happend.

GO AMA BOKKE BOKKE :p

I think this ban will make him wake up, and the fact of the matter is we have a more than suitible replacemement in the form of Brussouw.

I think it's a little late though. We have suitable loose forward replacements; he hasn't had a great season by a long shot; he has always been a dirty player and the refs single him out in fact; with this incident he has fallen out of favour with both fans and selectors...

Bakkies is looking for trouble everytime he runs onto the field.

Just look, everytime he squares off in a fight he always has that stupid taunting smile on his face as if to mock his opponent.

And he also walks away with a big grin when he walks away.

@ Arthur I think you confusing hard and abrasive for dirty. South African rugby players are amongst the most physical in the world, Schalk is the epitome of hard, rugby by nature is a brutally physical game.

and that's what makes him so awesome!!! he's the enforcer and probably one of the best in the business.

on the burger thing, I also used to respect him but after seeing what he did I was truely in shock, he is so out of form that he is getting frustrated and doing stupid things!

I can't speak for Arthur, but I certainly am not getting my wires crossed on this issue. I lost all respect for him after watching him intentionally gouge and opponent's eye - that's just not on in my books, regardless of who you are or how good a rugby player you think you are...

Just a quick Question how many of you have played rugby at a serious level e.g. First team, Club, provincial, etc.. ?

I tend to agree, i always took Schalla as a hard but fair player - this latest incident illustrates that he is just the usual rugby trash.

Lol, if you are dragging his father into this clearly you need to go revise why you hate him....

+1.

4th time, and i am still waiting for you to prove otherwise..

If you want to go watch swan lake go do that rather, this is rugby and you give as good as you get.

Did Bakkies throw a shot in these two tests? No. Did he stand his ground to show that we will not be bullied? Yes.

Funny how you guys say nothing about the B&I Lions with the shot in the nuts becker had to accept, or the 3 high tackles that was not even penalised never mind got a warning and that was only in the last test.

Bakkies and Schalk too hard for these wimps, plain and simple. The rugby world is not ready for their power and abrasiveness...

Watch the video, less than 5 seconds of footage and they make all kinds of conclusions and hand out a 2 month ban, potentially career ending ban?!! Come on... Just another case of heavy handed justice at the expense of South African rugby players...
