The beret for them is representative of an ideal. Whenever the Romans lost an Aquila to their enemy they campaigned to return it to Rome, there was a great pride for them in the Aquila. Just see EFF beret-wearing members as bearers of their ideology. I can see why this would rile them up, they were defeated and need to reclaim their dignity. Funny though, the Nazi's also applied this symbolism
