You've probably been following F1 for very long...

Since 1988 - you? :p

I don't like the oke, that's my prerogative. I also don't appreciate that the whole world of F1 was turned into a circus revolving around the pillock, with all the sheeple walking around like asshats in their Ferrari jackets. The only thing worse is being spotted in public wearing an oh-so-imaginative Springbokkie rugby ensemble.

The way FIA has been running things, we'll soon see a new break away F1 ;) CAN'T WAIT !

Oi, don't quote me! I'm still mad at you for not responding to my PM re my MTN issues! :p

And the breakaway ship has sailed with all the teams signing the new Concorde Agreement - bound until 2013ish if I recall...

Apparently Ferrari wants 3 cars on the grid for next year to compensate for the exit of BMW. And guess who will be driving the 3rd car? :)

You've got some serious issues man....

What exactly is the problem with someone wearing Ferrari kit? If they support the team, or they just like the way it looks, then so be it. And then the little dig at wearing Springbok kit is added just for good measure... WTF? Some of us are patriotic and actually get some enjoyment out of publicly demonstrating our support for our country. I suppose you are one of those oh so original types who tries to buck most trends when they are basically just following the trend which bucks the trend.

You also have an issue with successful people apparently.... Schumi is a case in point.

Some nice extrapolations in your reasoning there...

I take issue with mass hysteria, and with people who fall victim to it. Sticking Ferrari logos on your Volvo (or worse, powder-blue Citi Golf) & having your 3-month old in a Ferrari getup isn't cute - it's sad. It shows a susceptibility to indoctrination and an inability to form your own opinions. Schumacher simply isn't all his fans made him out to be. He was the beneficiary of not only a team, but an entire governing body whose sole aim was to ensure that he occupied the top step of the podium Sunday after Sunday after nauseating Sunday. Why? Because the sheeple came in their droves, thus ensuring that uncles Bernie and Max's only worry was to find bigger mattresses to stuff their ever-increasing millions under. It turned the sport into a farce.

Add to that his willingness to simply drive his title rivals off the road in reckless, not to mention unsportsmanlike fashion, and you end up with someone I really couldn't give two hoots about. His antics in '94 should've seen him banned from the following season and his repeat offense in '97 should've carried with it a permanent exclusion from all FIA-sanctioned motorsport. Making a mistake here & there is forgivable - being shown to be not only willing to endanger your fellow competitors, but calculating in your endeavours to do so isn't. Objectively I can and do appreciate his abilities behind the wheel. Subjectively he's an ****** and seeing that the masses are willing to support an ****** is a sad reflection on society and its collective values.

As for Oom Frik who goes to the local mall on a Saturday morning - wearing his slops (Crocs? ), jogging shorts and barely-boep-covering Springbok jersey - on his Klippies-and-biltong run for the afternoon's 'big match'... Well, that's just the epitome of class, isn't it? In both cases the (admittedly stereotypical) fans personify something I actively try to dissociate myself from. For the same reason you won't catch me within 500m of a television showing a single 2010 match, let alone anywhere near a live game...

Take into account, Lancelot, that I am entitled to my view - however skewed it might be in yours. I don't actively force my stance on anyone, but I won't be apologetic about it either. One of my favourite quotes states that 'there is no reality, only perception' - this is mine, deal with it.

Oh, and as for 'trends' - can't be arsed, personally. ;)

1. F1 is not for wimps.
2. As you have pointed out, Shumi got all those people to follow him like sheep - no other driver did that. A great man indeed.

1. No, it isn't but it also isn't a modern interpretation of the gladiatorial arena - most of us have progressed beyond that.
2. So did Hitler, ironically another 'great' from Germany.

1. Nope, riveted by it as a kid. Prost's sense of entitlement was only ever out-shined by Schumacher's ;)
2. Agreed, mad skillz, still an ******

1. In the old days of F1 there were many deaths. Drivers were swashbucling, with devil may care attitudes.
That was exciting. Never watched those though, just achive footage.
F1 needs to scrap some saftey regulations to make it exciting again.
2. Indeed, still a fanboi. :)

Great news.. :)
Maybe a reason to start watching F1 again..

You are not the only one feeling that way and I am 100% convinced that is the reason he was signed again. To get the numbers back to the sport.
He is obviously getting a fat salary for the next season or 2.

F1 has become a bit boring over the years.
