Seems MS rumours have a bit more substance now...

Bild and Focus magazine reported on Saturday that the seven-times world champion will compete for the new Mercedes team - formerly Brawn - next season if he passes a mandatory medical.

Schumacher had planned to return to F1 with Ferrari in the summer after Felipe Massa was sidelined following a crash, but due to neck injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash, his return was put on hold.

The magazine also said that Mercedes wanted Schumacher to act as a team ambassador on a long-term basis, though that would involve him cutting ties with Ferrari who he still advises.

Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm refused to comment on whether the winner of 91 grands prix would compete for one final year when questioned by Deutsche Press Agency.

A source close to Schumacher's management team told Eurosport that reports were "more than just rumours."

Yes. F1 has lost a lot of charm and interest. See many companies are pulling out of F1. Perhaps they will come back with Schumie??

Many companies are pulling out because of financial reasons not because f1 is suffering.

26 cars on the grid next season. I really hope it does not get dominated by one team. I hope 7 or 8 of the 13 teams have good cars because there are going to be some hot drivers on show but without cars to drive they cannot show their talents :D.

Actually I think he brought more to Ferrari than he took from them IMO. Thinking Benetton and Ross Brawn. It will be like old days for him.

Well after the statement released by Ferrari's boss on Monday Im pretty sure Schumi is on his way back to F1, sadly it wont be under the flag of the prancing horse though. It will be no doubt an exciting season to see.

Do not be so sure, shumi is good but there are good drivers on the grid and he may well get schooled :D.

I agree, but hope his die hard fans dont expect too much from him. He's certainly capable but full race distance could be a challenge. If his performance in the past few ROC races is anything to go by, then he can still beat anyone on an average day. I dont think it would be bad for his image like some claim. Even if he doesn't end up wc contender, people will still watch to support him.

Even if he comes in and does nothing will not mean people will think he is crap.

I am just saying F1 is about the most competitive i have seen in awhile and if 4-6 teams can get their shyte together we may see a different winner every race.

So, anyone hazard a guess how many world champions on the grid next year?

Think it's 4?
