“Cambridge, United Kingdom (AHN) – A research team led by Dr. Leo James from the Medical Research Council (MRC) Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, have discovered that antibodies can battle viruses that cause the common cold, vomiting and gastroenteritis, by entering cells that house them.
Previously, it was believed that antibodies could only attack viruses outside cells or by blocking their entry into cells.
Once antibodies enter cells they quickly trigger a response, led by a protein called TRIM21 that pulls the virus into a disposal system used by the cell to get rid of unwanted material. Release of the TRIM21 protein is so quick that the virus is not given a chance to harm the cell.

Interesting development!

Still amazing to learn that antibodies can enter the cell. That alone is important. It means there is a transport mechanism present in the cell membrane that allows for transport of the antibody across the membrane. That means we could trick that transfer system in the future into letting things we design into cells. It has far reaching implications for the treatment of other things like TB.

I wish I could honestly say that I know & understand what they are talking about.
Either way it does sound interesting

Interesting, this could be used against viruses like HIV even... I guess it's a step forward in the fight against viruses, which if they crack it, it'll be like discovering Penicillin!

So, we don't need acid bath's and pig farms anymore, we can just use antibodies to get rid of the bodies.

Wait ... why are they called anti bodies?
